ummm....what? Actually can really help with oily and/or acne-prone skin. Have been using it for years...paired with a generic 10% peroxide cleanser, have had great results.

Have read recent-ish reviews about this trying to find a good Witch Hazel and it looks like this is the one you are thinking of.

The ingredient in question is Phenoxyethanol. I don't know much about it or if it does indeed have concerning amounts of it per the new formula.

For $2 i'm going to see if it's a good option.

This is great. Make sure you try it with a small bottle before you jump in if you are new to toner. I had really bad skin redness when I was trying out neutrogena toner and I bought big bottles and threw all of them away.

Anyway, Thayers is really good product to use as an aftershave. Witch Hazel is an astringent and helps reduce razor rash, without stinging.
All good points, and I use this every time I shave. Many shavers, myself included, do find some alcohol helps rebalance pH after shaving with soaps.

Phenoxyethanol is pretty safe. It's commonly used as a vaccine preservative as it's affective against many strains of bacteria, but doesn't not damage human cells. (Eukaryote and Prokaryote cells are fairly different).

US and EU rate it as safe in normal use. Japan limits product concentrations to 1%.

Little to worry about.

serious queston: i've been using generic witch hazel (walmart, super cheap) for years as aftershave.

why would i upgrade to this product?

Alcohol drying out the skin is not completely true. The type of alcohol used makes a huge difference. Douglass over at PhoenixArtisanAccoutrements could teach a master class on this…

Your only saving 16 cents per oz FYI if your comparing to 9.59 on sale at CVS right now for 12oz. 3oz bottle I guess is good for travel but I guess it's cheaper. But most folks have amazon prime I suppose so zero cost in gas going to CVS. Not worth it for me but just saying!
