Such a bad deal, this is a contract. Id prefer to pay double before spending hours with customer service.
Samsung coming with new phones in 2 weeks and new deals coming in.

Last time this was around, you have to be on a qualifying unlimited plan.

Otherwise it was $25/month for each line on that is on a 24 months contract with this offer. Not sure if this changed
I was offered the same thing(the phone credit option) on my older plan. Unfortunately I didn't receive the option to get these phones at the price op mentioned. I'll try again when the S22 come out to see if they have a better option 😭

You don't keep your phone for 24 months?
I definitely keep my phone for at least 2 years. However, I don't want to be locked into a contract or forced to upgrade to a new plan (I'm on an older shared/rollover plan). Also, if something happens to the phone during that 24 months (lost, stolen, damaged), I couldn't change carriers to get a new deal.

I hit up Loyalty just a few months ago and was able to upgrade my old shared data plan to unlimited and actually reduced my total plan cost. Just an FYI for those on older plans. They gave me a 25% discount on plan costs.

Popping along on my trusty s10 until it falls apart.

Can you elaborate what plan you were in and how much you are paying now for unlimited. Thank you.

AT&T sucks as a company. I will never do business with them again. I also would tell all my friends to not do business with them.
I've been using AT&T Wireless for around 15 years now. Anywhere from 2 to 5 lines on a 15GB plan. Never had an issue.

I was in the 6GB share with my wife, paying about $110/mo for service. Now on the Unlimited Extra paying about $100/mo for service.

This is why I just dropped them after 20 years.

This type of response doesn't tell a person reading any information about why Att is bad.

Att buying 5G bandwidth, that where most of the money goes.

Verizon Communications Inc. VZ was the biggest bidder in the auction for "C-band spectrum," a type of wireless spectrum that the biggest U.S. carriers expect will prove crucial in the rollout of 5G networks. Verizon spent $45.5 billion at the auction, while AT&T Inc. T spent $23.4 billion and T-Mobile US Inc. TMUS spent $9.3 billion. Others rounded out the auction with smaller bids of their own — U.S. Cellular Corp.'s USM $1.3 billion haul was the next largest total after T-Mobile's.

Whoever is considering this route, BEWARE!!! This 24 months contract they will put you on is not eligible for any promotions. So, depending on what your current plan is, your monthly fee for the line you're upgrading might go up (whether they tell you about it or not during the conversation)! I just spent 1.5 months in very frustrating calls with AT&T trying to get out of a similar deal.

Here is my story. Last November I called the customer loyalty department and got a Samsung S20 FE for a "special price of $180" + tax. All I had to do was to sign a 24 months contract. At the time, I had 6 lines on a grandfathered 15GB Mobile Share plan paying a $15 access fee per line. I specifically mentioned to the CRS that I wanted to keep my plan and was assured that that'd be the case. The MSRP for the phone is $699.

I went on vacation and, since I have auto-payment set up, didn't check my bill until after I came back at the end of December. To my surprise, the access fee for my line changed to $40, meaning that after 2 years I would've paid 180 + (40-15)*24 = $780 for the phone that I could've bought for $699 straight. So, in the past month, I spoke with 6 different people in customer loyalty (including managers) and went to a nearby corporate store. I was getting a different story every time I called. The only thing I was told consistently by all of them was that there was no way to re-apply the line access fee discount and make it $15 again.

They ruined my New Year since I spent most of New Year's Eve on the phone with them and most of New Year's Day running around trying to find a new phone so that I could return the one I bought from AT&T and cancel the contract. Which turned out to be pointless because, even though customer loyalty told me I could still return the phone until January 2 as "buyer's remorse", when I showed up at the corporate store to turn it in I got laughed at. So, instead, I had to return the replacement phone I bought and keep calling customer loyalty.

Long story short, I was forced to upgrade my 6 lines to the Unlimited plan to get out of this 2-year contract. In the end, it worked out "OK" since they "lumped in" the monthly installments I was paying for 2 other phones I bought earlier for my family members and gave me a $300 credit. So, the price I'm paying now is comparable to what I was paying before. But it definitely caused me some grief! So, you've been warned!

Called into Loyalty Dept agent in order to get a S20 FE for $1 per month. She said that this added to my account would increase my "Line Fee" by another $20 a month. Ugh, it was not going to work, since I had an older, data-capped plan... Showing as $10 a month otherwise
Yep, that's exactly what happened to me! Except nobody told me about it and mine went up by $25. I spent 1.5 months fighting with them and, in the end, had to upgrade to the Unlimited plan to get out of this "deal".

All of these deals should be clearly stated that you need to be on an unlimited plan. It's been that way for many years now. Even if CS tells you that you can keep your non unlimited plan, or in many cases they don't tell you at all lol. There's many threads on here of older loyalty deals where people's plans get changed, even when specifically told it wouldn't. So either get on an unlimited plan, or don't even bother with this deal
