That's the funny thing about people saying Intel is cheaper. Motherboards are more expensive, so Intel isn't necessarily cheaper and in many cases, more expensive, in some other cases, way more expensive depending on type/size of motherboard.

A lot of people keep saying an intel is cheaper. Would anyone please post anything similar preferably with a mobo, obviously paying extra for it. Yes I've tried Google -TIA

12th gen DDR5 is still very expensive. The CPU is cheaper, the MB a little more, but DDR5 sticker shock. Unless you find a LGA 1700 MB that takes DDR4, but there are not very many.

This APU is great if you need the IGP functionality but be warned that there's a larger performance gap between this and the 5600X than the name might suggest if you're just looking to save a buck on a newish CPU

tl;dr it's pretty often a 15-20% difference, which is actually the price difference here. So really, get this if you need the IGP or you just simply cannot spend the extra $40

Does not compute. If his thing wasn't overpriced it would be in the $150 range, in line with Zen+ prices

Not only is DDR5 way more expensive, but right now it offers very little performance benefit. Until it matures it's not worth it. This is a killer deal for very basic gaming PC (I.E. Minecraft) or a workstation. In a year from now DDR5 will be the bees knees.

I'm waiting for November. 4080, Zen4/13th gen, DDR5, PCIE5 SSD. So much great stuff I'll have to build a whole new PC.

I've done occasional brief looks just to keep an eye on things. Nothing in depth as I'm not currently looking to upgrade. Even with just the occasional brief look, it appears you can currently do roughly the same if not slightly better with intel vs amd for cpu/board/ram, with better performance out of the intel. I5-12400 (either normal or F, because while the F part SHOULD be cheaper without the video, thats not always the case) for < $200 (Usually significantly under if you are near a microcenter), B660 or H670 board for ~$150 (watch for DDR4 vs DDR5...but I have not noticed DDR4 versions being as rare as someone above makes them out to be), and whichever ram you choose. Compared to this 5600G, the 5600 is a little more, most cheaper boards are about the same though you can pretty easily spend $20-30 less there, and of course ram stays the same if you dont go with DDR5 with intel, so overall you are looking at about the same money. That 12th gen intel should also be a better performer for most things as well.

That's the problem, yes the Intel 12th gen cpu are cheaper, but the motherboards are not. Maybe wait for a few months when the H660 or other cheaper chipset mobos come out then it would be a good deal. This 5600g plus the the 450m mobo cost around $300.

depends on how much the 1600 AF is. also, i think there's some question about whether 1600 AF is compatible with windows 11. it's basically a tuned down version of 2600 which meets the requirements, but 1600 AF isn't listed in the official document:

if it's for office use, then i would personally recommend newer parts (for longevity/reliability) in order to minimize downtime, but up to you. i personally use old parts for family HTPCs.
Just for whoever that is interested in the 1600 AF (zen 2), I do have it and I was able to upgrade to Windows 11 with it.

For a $85 processor (only if you can still get one), I thought it was excellent (assuming that you already have a GPU that you can use).

This is not meant to compute with the 5600x, its meant for people who don't need a dedicated gpu or are waiting to be able to find a modern gpu at an affordable price.
