1. Setup was crazy easy, by far the easiest I have experienced among Mesh routers like Asus and Orbi. I was up and running in about 5-10 minutes. No false starts or restarting from scratch needed to get it working out of the box.
2. Speeds were not as fast I expected, but definitely among the fastest I have tested. Using my iPhone 13 Pro, I was able to get a top speed in the 600-700s right next to the router at first, but would usually average 400-500s. Was never able to achieve higher than that. Speeds were really inconsistent so I would sometimes get as low as 200-300s right next to the router or around the house as well. Hard to tell if it was the router or my ISP. The deco app did not have an option to test the internet connection from the modem to the router.
3. Similar issue with the satellite unit. I have a PC connected via ethernet to the satellite. When first started up, I would reach close to the 1gig speeds, But then for some reason, later I would only get half of that usually around 400-500s directly connected. Same for my wifi devices connected to the satellite, but sometimes even lower at 200s. Not sure if this is due to the dynamic backhaul switching bands possibly?
4. Dealbreaker for me was that my nest cameras would constantly disconnect. Similar problem I had with the XT8s.
I was looking forward to this system, but for my experience and purposes, it did not work out for me. I hooked up my Arris Surfboard mAX AX6600 (2 pack), and everything just works again and will probably keep it. I have more stable, consistent, higher speeds (close 600-700s; further 300-400s) than that of what I was able to get out of the Deco with wireless backhaul. I think the available reviews online (i.e. dong) tested it out when it first came out a year ago and it did not exactly wow anyone. But my guess is that firmware updates have improved it alot since, and from my experience, its working awesome and you get similar speeds from both the router and satellite.
If you want to check it out, here is the link. Its on sale for $299.99 and I think the sale ends today. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/arri...d=644377
I'm upgrading from an Orbi RBK53s which has been stable and reliable. Just wanted faster speeds.
I've tried the following using wireless backhaul:
1. Orbi 753: couldn't even to get it set up initially out of the box despite multiple restarts and factory resets; got frustrated and returned
2. Asus XT8 - I liked the speeds when it worked. Sometimes it would take multiple tries during setup for it to recognize the satellite. Big problem I had was with nest cameras constantly disconnecting. Tried factory resetting, binding IPs, turning off 160 mhz channel, separate guest network, but still had that problem.
3. Currently trying out the ARRIS SURFboard mAX Tri-band AX6600 2 pack (on sale at Bestbuy and Amazon). So far I have been pleasantly surprised. Nest cameras working as expected. Average speeds are higher and more consistent compared to my experience with the XT8. Negatives are that it comes with only 2 Ethernet ports and are placed under the unit so my cables are slightly bent (will probably get right angle cables). Also there is no web interface and no real customizations or tinkering that you can do. However, it just works right now and giving me faster and stable speeds.
The ax5700 is clearly the faster unit. However, the range did not work well in my house at all.
Switched to the 3 pack 3600 and the range is impeccable. However, the speeds are lower on paper but there is no noticeable difference in my daily activities (streaming 4k video, work etc).
connecting and naming devices is simple and easy on the deco app. great gui. i believe this model however, can have a lesser total number of devices connected (something to consider as seemingly everything is connected to the net these days). GL

I guess we can't replace STB
My request is for replacing Router/Modem.
Thanks
All work great. AT&T fiber 300/300 plan.
Ring, hues, Kasa devices all work great. I've only rebooted network once.
No regrets.
Only complaint is the firewall software is a subscription that is not worth it.
For the average home user this is a great product.
The app is better than both. If I had to rank the apps it would be Deco, Velop, and Orbi in dead last. Hardware the Deco and Velop are neck and neck. Overall I like the looks of the Deco slightly better, but the Velop had more ethernet ports plus USB. Orbi seems very flimsy and looks best when hidden.
The reason I've gone down this path of trying so many is that the Orbi satellites would randomly go 'out of sync' which requires manual physical intervention.
Depending on consistency, I'll likely stick with the Deco, as the Linksys coverage didn't seem to reach the corner of my office consistently. I'll make the final call in a couple weeks.

Broadband: AT&T Fiber 1000/1000 connection. Real world Ethernet speed is usually ~950/950 at the modem.
Location: 3600sqft house + basement & garage for a total of ~5000. Very long house (not square) semi-open concept. 2 floors + basement. Routers are at the 2 far ends of the house on the first floor so the middle 2nd floor is always spotty for coverage.
Previous Setup: Upgraded from 3 ASUS Blue Cave AC2600 routers. My hope was to be able to cover the house with 2 instead of 3. I have an Ethernet backhaul connecting 2/3 of my ASUS routers with the 3rd upstairs to cover the dead zone.
I just purchased the 2 Deco W6000 routers from the Walmart Slickdeals so I am directly comparing this X5700 setup to both those and my ASUS routers.
Observations:
1. These routers are large, much taller than either my ASUS or Deco W6000s. They are triband and have 3x3 MU-MIMO with 6 antennas so that makes sense considering both my other setups are dual band.
2. Speed: These are quick but not that impressive speed wise. When next to the router, the max speeds I saw were 450-500 down and up on my connection. This is slower than both my other setups. ASUS averaged 500-600 and the Deco W6000 managed over ~700/600. I used my iPhone 12 mini for all tests. It is WiFi 6 compatible but cannot utilize the 3x3 MU-MIMO of the X5700's which is the ONLY explanation I can think of for the W6000 being faster.
3. Range: These pretty easily covered my entire house. My non-scientific results are that my iPhone never showed less than 2/3 WiFi bars even at the "dead spot" on my second floor. I got about 200/200 at that spot. I also got decent range in my backyard and it was noticeably improved vs my ASUS routers. What did surprise me is that the range was not noticeably better than the Deco W6000 routers. Like not at all, the range may have been a little worse which I can't wrap my head around.
4. Other: Setup was stupid easy with these. With the app I was able to get these up and running in about 15mins. My ASUS routers were far more complex and took over an hour with multiple errors in between. TP link has really knocked it out of the park with setup on these.
The extra features are super minimal on these. For someone who just wants an easy setup that works. Those looking for more advanced features should go for ASUS or another brand, though you will likely pay more.
All in all, these routers confirmed for me how much of an unbelievable deal the 2 pack of W6000s were for $123. This is likely due to my wired backhaul but FWIW I'm returning this set and keeping the W6000 2-pack at half the price.
