I got this dual fuel inverter generator from HomeDepot around 15 months ago when it was around $400. The first unit had problem in the recoil and returned. The second one works fine. After breaking in, I put it away for the winter. Last summer, we had a 4 day blackout and I ran this for 3 days on 1.5 tanks of propane for a full size fridge and a chest freezer, plus chargers for cell phones, tablets, and computers. It started on the second or third pull the first time. After that, it usually starts at the first pull. It is a bit noisier than other brand but it is fine during the day. I have to shut it off at night though. There are a couple accessories you should get which often come in a bundle. They are the magnetic dipstick and the oil funnel/extender. Also, I use synthetic oil after the first change during break in. If it hits the $400 price point again I may get a second one for parallel operation.

This is the ideal unit for all those that keep asking if it will run their refrigerator. The smaller 1000/800w one is questionable. This should handle any ONE thing in your house that can plug into the standard outlet. I am hopefull we might see this at $400 again but also would not be surprised if we never does. This is portable enough to carry in and out of car easily but I don't see carrying it more than 1000ft with out taking a break.

Is this any better, worse or comparable in quality/any reported issues? Thanks for feedback.

apparently pulsar are made in Canada, whereas sportsman made in china, although they do seem to have a better reputation for being entirely Chinese built
