Have a couple of 80v batteries for my other Gw machines but does anyone have experience with this mower? SD feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

My parents have had it for a year and love it. It's so light weight and quiet. I have a deal alert set up to get myself one…

Used it for 4 years. Just got the new version on Cyberweek deal. If you are expecting it to be as good as your gas mower, you'll be disappointed. Its light and easy to maneuver. Not loud. I noticed I had to go a bit slower to get the cut I want (a bit picky about that). I personally like it a lot and it works great for my needs. I also have their blower and snowblower. I used same 2ah and 4ah batteries for 4 years and they are still going strong. For reference: I had 5k sqft of lawn at the old house and 4k sqft at the new.

I can't speak for this exact model, but I have a bunch of greenworks 40v and 60v (mowers, snowblowers, leaf blowers, etc) and absolutely love them.

I bought it last year at $294. I already had some GW 80V batteries, so that was OK.
However, Costco had a deal on 2-pack of batteries (either 2.0 or 4.0AH)`so I bought those as. well -- obviously the 4AH is better for a mower like this but I got by on an older 2AH -- depends on how much cutting you have to do and if you want to take breaks (I wanted to take breaks before my 2AH battery was drained, so that really wasn't a problem.)

I'd recommend this one at this price IF you already have the battery setup. Obviously if you are new to the system, and don't have that, it's better to shop for a combo deal)

Mine will enter its 5th season this summer. It has been problem free. I do clean the underside after every use and then use the blower on it. Even the bag is still in good shape. I do sharpen the blade each season. Thumbs up.

I started switching to all electric yard stuff and even got their electric chainsaw and pole saw.
Have some spare battery's and its all nice, easy and reliable.
No gas, no oils, no pull strings or spark-plugs etc...

I've had the Greenworks 80v Snow Blower since 2017 and it's been perfect. Batteries are pricey though but whatever it is a trooper. In 2020 I bought the 80v Lawn Mower and it lasted 3 weeks. After two month Greenworks sends a replacement (refurbished) died halfway through one cut of the lawn. Greenworks refused to replace it again and told me if I wanted it fixed I'd have to find a shop and pay for whatever the repair costs and pets were. Bottom line their customer service is garbage and build quality is suspect. Your better off with any other brand.

I'm curious if there are reliable 3rd party batteries. I've been holding off getting an electric lawn mower because the batteries are so expensive and all proprietary.

The official Greenworks 4AH battery is $240. The non-official batteries have horrible reviews.

I've had one for 2 years.

Pro's: It's light, it's quiet, on the lower settings it cuts well, and after 2 years I can still cut a 1/4 acre yard on a single 4AH battery with charge left if I don't let it get too long or wet

Con's: On the top 2 or 3 height settings, the cut is inconsistent and leaves some grass uncut. I have the self-propelled version and it's a pain. With rear wheel drive you have to disengage and re-engage at the end of each row. That's the same for all rear wheel drive. The problem is that when you engage it, there's a delay and a really slow ramp up of the motor speed which makes it nearly useless unless you have really long, uninterrupted rows of grass to mow.

On balance, I like do like it and I was coming from a gas mower. I also have extra batteries from already having the leaf blower (great), and weed whacker (dangerous but effective). If I had a do over, I'd probably get the version without self propel.

I have this mower for more than 2 years and it is working well except the self propeller is not engaged any more. Need a 4A and and a 2A to finish the lawn. The battery life is about 30 minutes for 4A and 15-20 minutes for 2A. It is depend on how thick or the height of the grass. I prefer to cut more often and keep about 3 and 1/2 inches height adjustment.

I agree that buying a single Greenworks battery at full price doesn't make sense -- it's best to get either as a combo with tool, or in a special promo. For example a few months ago (late Summer last year) there was a promo for 2 official Greenworks batteries from Costco online (shipped direct from Greenworks) For something around $240 I got TWO of the 4 AH batteries. They also has a combo of TWO 2AH batteries for under $200.

I don't know about 3rd-party ones for this, but in general I've learned to stay away from no-name "replacement" batteries bought online. And, no, I wouldn't consider offers of "free replacement if you send us back your defective battery to China at your expense".
