unfortunately, not the energy monitoring ones
Correct, but these are still great products. I find the Kasa app to be extremely easy to use and intuitive.
What's Tasmota? I sense a cool hack i hadn't heard of.

EDIT: Wow, just read up on it. couple questions:

1. Once flashing Tasmota firmware, does the device still function with the intended service, i.e. it can still work as intended with Alexa, Google Assistant, etc and that all this does is just bypass cloud integration if you choose to?

2. What items should I keep an eye out for here in SD that are Tasmota compatible? What have you found here?

Thanks!

I have. RPi4 with HomeBridge running so HomeKit runs my location automations. I was using Alexa/Google Home "Presence Sensing" too but I prefer HomeKit's automation for the "Turn off after (time duration)" and my garage door (Alexa and Google home couldn't use these doors as triggers unless they've corrected it lately)
Thanks for the reply. I've never heard of HomeBridge, so bear with me, but see it interfaces with HomeKit. Does that mean you do all your automation creation through HomeBridge (similar to how I use WebCore in SmartThings)? Or do you configure your devices in HomeBridge and then do the automation in HomeKit?

I've never attempted to use HomeKit simply because most of my devices aren't compatible with HomeKit, but it sounds like HomeBridge solves this problem?

TIA!

Two examples:

Eggcooker: works perfectly with smart plugs. Totally hands free.

Zojirushi NP-HCC10XH Induction Heating System Rice Cooker and Warmer: only connects the power. You still need to manually select how to cook rice and how long time. How can I control this cooker hands free with this smart plug? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

If all it take is 1 button push to start a particular mode then you could use a button pusher.

I'm curious how everyone uses energy monitoring with their smart plugs to make it a valuable feature? Is it just for your awareness as to how much energy your lamp has consumed this month or do you integrate it with your automations?

As an example if you have a theater setup in the basement. You can monitor the energy use of the projector. If it is using more power most likely mean you'll be watching a movie soon so you can have curtain close, lights dim/fade off, floor lights goes on, etc.
