I have never used Oculus and curious to try. In order to access virtual reality, or meta verse do I need to have a game consulate ? Please educate me how it works

Assuming you mean console, then no-- you do not. This VR headset can operate stand-alone. I believe it can also link to a PC to play PC games that have more intensive requirements.

You simply activate it, charge it, purchase some games from the Oculus store, then you are good to go. AFAIK it still requires linking to a Facebook account in order to activate it.

Oculus 2 requires Facebook account for now short of sideloading 3rd party software* at this point.
Some hinting that fb won't be required sometime this year, but so far required

Source: me trying to figure out a way to not link to FB myself after buying one on the last deal

*Edit: paranoiaboy07 (with the fitting username) had a YouTube link below that walks through how it's possible, IF you already have a stand alone Oculus account, by downloading an old app APK, and tweaking your headset into developer mode.
However if you didn't make a stand alone Oculus user account already, you no longer are able to. so any new Oculus user won't be able to use the method.

Ordered one of these around Christmas, looks and operates like new. Beware referral bonus from Oculus is hit or miss and customer service is hit or miss to apply it if you complain.

I highly recommend you buy a 2 or 3-year protection plan because, for 20 bucks you get 3 years of guaranteed support, they can fix or replace for any problem.

I dont understand the outrage about this, what's wrong with just creating a new FB account specifically for using this?

Technically against Facebook TOS, which then would put your oculus account (and presumably all purchased content) at risk

Depends on games but probably 10 or something. Just delete the games you dont play often. The data is stored in cloud. So you can retrieve your saves too.
