Oculus 2 requires Facebook account for now short of sideloading 3rd party software at this point.
Some hinting that fb won't be required sometime this year, but so far required

Source: me trying to figure out a way to not link to FB myself after buying one on the last deal

Is the quest pro and quest 3 the same future device?

I have never used Oculus and curious to try. In order to access virtual reality, or meta verse do I need to have a game consulate ? Please educate me how it works
You need to have some games to enjoy fully. Some games are free while some are not.

Imagine you're buying a PS/Xbox/Nintendo. This is just a different interface of the same kind.

How many games can one download to hardware before out of space?
Got this a week ago, flawless new condition. I have 10 plus games on it that I downloaded myself beyond the required software it comes with and it's still under half full. Not sure why I would need any more games than that on it at once. Just Uninstall the ones you lost interest in if space becomes an issue. Totally depends on each person's need of course,, but only hard-core gamers/enthusiasts would need over 64gb from my perspective.

*Edit: paranoiaboy07 (with the fitting username) had a YouTube link below that walks through how it's possible, IF you already have a stand alone Oculus account, by downloading an old app APK, and tweaking your headset into developer mode.
However if you didn't make a stand alone Oculus user account already, you no longer are able to. so any new Oculus user won't be able to use the method.
Thanks for the overview of where everything stands currently. The Facebook requirement has kept me away from Oculus products and I was tempted to pull the trigger on this thinking they had already rolled back the requirement (as announced last year), but you saved me from hassling with a return by letting me know that's not the case. Repping you!

Edit: It won't let me rep you for some reason, but appreciate the info regardless!

Technically against Facebook TOS, which then would put your oculus account (and presumably all purchased content) at risk

So for ppl only using it for PCVR... completely moot point?

For people that will use it with a pc or is now a huge gamer it is fine
It's plenty combined with Air Link and Virtual Desktop to play Rift/Steam VR. A lot of Oculus apps/games are less than a couple GB and RE4 which is a popular Oculus exclusive is 7.8GB as an example.

I dont understand the outrage about this, what's wrong with just creating a new FB account specifically for using this?
Nothing wrong with it, and alot people do this for that reason. Just theoretical but in creating a new FB account you are still giving FB a way to track you and sell your user data. If you have an existing FB account they can potentially link you to your new account by just being on the same network. And yes applies to people without FB accounts as well, if you've accessed a site that uses FB to deliver ads, FB has a profile on you. Not to mention that to buy games off the oculus store you'll likely have to add a credit card that is linked to you. Connecting the Quest to the internet potentially also gives your IP address and list of local devices, plenty to put together a profile on you. Just because its a separate account doesn't mean FB wont know its you. Not meant to scare anyone, just the reality of any company that collects user data. Your phone is the biggest point of user data being sold and for delivering ads.

That being said, still in for the deal always wanted to try VR, repped!

I second this. PITA to uninstall games or the headset complains with < 10gb free.
OTOH it forces you to finish a game first before moving on to the next.
PS: I rarely use my Quest 1; perhaps once a month at most. YOLO so next one will be the bigger version.

I am not looking to play games, I just want to into the meta verse and all "travel" to places that have VR created. How do I do it without game console?

You just need this headset, then you go to the Oculus store, just like the app store on your phone to purchase what you want to play or view.

Depends on games but probably 10 or something. Just delete the games you dont play often. The data is stored in cloud. So you can retrieve your saves too.
I heard the exact opposite, and in the games saves are stored in the device. Major complaint for those who upgraded from quest 1. Was that changed?

That's up to game developers.

I know a few games are like that but those are usually the ones I don't play again once I clear.
