Front load washers are a pain in the rear end to clean and maintain. Ive owned one for ten years and I can't wait for that POS to break so I can buy a top load. It's getting to the point where cleaning the buildup inside the detergent tray and front door seal is aggravating.

Bought this set but with electric dryer ($100 more). Have only had them a few weeks but so far we're very happy with them and the support around delivery and follow-up by Costco. No issues so far.

Get a 1 - 2cups of citric acid. Add a little to the detergent cup and the rest to the tank. Run it on Warm water heavy duty cycle. Clean the filter out after as well as it will catch some of the gunk you just cleaned.

It will clean it out very well as most detergent is base and builds up over time. Citric acid will not damage anything and is the same ingredient in many washing machine cleaners.

I do this once a year and my last front loader was about 12 years old before the SO wanted to change them.

If it performed, and was as reliable as those 90s style washers, I'd pay this price for the washer alone.

Same thing I noticed when buying furniture back in the spring. All the new stuff looked old and dated but I was confused because I was in a furniture showroom and not an old folks home. It's like just started pushing older models because it's easier to manufacture or had a decade of old supplies stashed somewhere. These should come with a gma.

Agitator is a must have. Top Load washer without agitator is a total POS, it uses like a gallon of water and clothes just dry rub each other.

Yes, as soon as my early 2000s Whirlpool motor goes out Speedqueen will def be an option. I've changed 4 different $10-$20 parts on my washer that I bought used for $150 over the past 7 years and it keeps on ticking.

Yes, but many sport an "Energy Star" logo. Try not to dwell on how much energy is wasted to needlessly manufacture a replacement appliance. It's all about marketing now, and has been for years.

My parents had a front loader for about 12 years and it just broke. It only broke another time, but it was a small part. For the cleaning, it really wasn't too hard, it's called leaving the door open and wiping the seal once in a while. You probably had a model that wasn't the best, so generalizing all front-loaders as the best outcome.

Plus front loaders use a ton less water as well as a lot less electricity as well, nearly half of each from a top loader. My guess is your model isn't built the best and that's the issue.

I have this washer and it's a crap.
Using a lot of water.
Doesn't actually wash.
Even though it's one year old - thinking to throw this away, just to forget about Whirpool. After this i won't use any of their appliances.

Anyone knows if you can just buy the dryer and how much for it alone?

Using a top load Kenmore Elite with no agitator, my white clothes are cleaner and more white than they have ever been. A bit baffling, I have watched that thing use so little water, while being totally impressed with the cleaning of clothes. A family member has similar, but with hard water, they have a similar opinion as you do.
