A Brown Box is typically a bulk packaged or simpler less costly packaged item. It could mean allot of things along this line. Typically brown box is plain, without the glossy retail packaging. Glossy multi-color packaging, plastic windows on boxes to show the product, etc. all add cost. It may also lack included software (which no one does anymore anyway), all the doc, may have a different warranty or no warranty.
Governments and companies like mine placing a big order for an item will opt for this for a better price. How many user manuals, warranty statements, and software discs are needed by a company rolling out a few hundred of these? typically zero or one. We would just throw all that away. Retail boxes can take extra time to open each of those sealed boxes. Brown Box saves time and waste.
