Pros:

Portability, one of two known 14" "gaming" laptops (the other is 14" razer which you wont get at this price point)
Lightweight magnesium alloy build.

Cons:

60w rtx 3060 (dynamic boost up to 80w)
One m.2 slot
White on silver keyboard makes keys a bit difficult to see
No webcam

Incorrect. There is 8gb that is soldered. The other 8gb you can swap out to a single 32gb for a total of 40gb.

RAM max at 24GB, may be difficult to perform heavy graphics processing.

-no mux as well

I'd personally hold off until the 2022 refreshes release and settle. This year's offerings will have a webcam and a mux switch. I am hoping they will be at the starting prices, which will further drop the price of the 2021 models. 2021 was amazing on release amazing today, but webcam and mux might be enough for some folks to go 2022.

Prices are expected to go up this year on the newer models due to chip shortages and DDR5. If you need portability at this moment, sure go and buy it, if not hold until midyear and let's see the offerings.

I bought this laptop. Got for 1K open box from a best buy nearby.
IMO 9/10

Biggest complaint is the noise during loads. Its like an airplane.

Performance wise, it is insane. I only play valorant but this gets 240+ FPS on 1440p max settings.
This is only slightly lower than my 2060Super+3900x DESKTOP….
Another downside is no mux. On its own screen it only gets 190 FPS 1080p….as we can see the mux makes a huge difference because thats LOWER FPS on a lower resolution!

But anyways…screen is too small to play directly so prolly will need a monitor anyways.

What's the highest you can OC this GPU without crashes? Does windows support adaptive refresh rate yet?

Is a mux that significant?

Do these have the same QC issues the first gen had? I went through 3 exchanges on my first gen model (4900hs/2060/120hz) in the first 3 months of owning it before I gave up on it. All had defective fans or a screen flicker.

BB listed the new Zephyrus M16, if that's anything to go by, prices are going up for the 2022 models so it may be a good time to snag a deal on a 2021 model without paying the DDR5/shortage tax.

Don't think so. It was that initial batch early 2020. I got a late 2020 model and have not had issues.

Awesome, thanks for that. I might look a little more into it and scoop one up then. I was so excited when I pre-ordered my original and I wanted to like it so badly. The form factor and specs are so unique. I've been using the Flow X13 which is pretty cool, but I'm not into glossy screens and with it being touch that's the only option.
