I bought an open box 65" Sony A8F OLED from BuyDig a couple years ago. Zero flaws or burn-in and it's been performing flawlessly. It was double boxed for shipping as well.

What doesn't CPS's TV extended warranty cover?
This warranty does not cover any kind of damage to the TV, the cost of removal or reinstallation, or burn in on the television screen. Stolen TVs are also not covered.

I found that on thier website but it's contradictory to what's shown on the box on the Buydig website...

EDIT: found it. burn in is covered-

https://www.buydig.com/shop/produ...r-1500-ACC

Features

Accidental Damage coverage
Warranty covers the purchased product against defects in material or workmanship for 4 years starting 30 days after purchase
Impact Damage
Dropping while moving or mounting the TV
From kids playing ball in the house
Burn in covered - usually not covered by the OEM
Remote Control replacement - hot swap, no question asked
Tech Support Included - initial product setup and/or configuration
Authorized service dispatched by Consumer Priority Service

Since this model number include the "CJ" - that probably means these are Costco returns from last fall when they had the $1799 deal for this model TV. Costco has a generous return policy so it is feasible some were returned for reasons not related to faulty performance (like return/rebuy if would not price match, decided to buy from another store as many retailers offer the $1799 price last October, or opted to return the 65" and get the 77" instead as the 77 went on sale at Costco around Black Friday).
There was a similar slick deal a few weeks ago from Secondipity that also had the "CJ" model, so perhaps Costco had an influx of returns to liquidate - they do not typically re-sell returns as open box in store

With that being said, this "refurb" status might have a better chance of being almost like new condition as opposed to other refurb sales on sites like Woot that are more "scratch and dent" of a previous year's model - and thus more of a shot in the dark on what condition you might get if you pull the trigger.

This is better than the LG A1 65" that is the same price at Costco right now. Yes, you go not get the Costco extended warranty you would get if you have the Costco Visa. But that warranty does not cover burn in and still requires you to go through a 3rd party to make a claim (can't just bring it back to Costco if in year 2 something malfunctions).

Anyone know if this is eligible to receive the 10 free movie credits through Sony Bravia Core service - https://electronics.sony.com/bravia-core ?

I was just looking into this, PS5 doesn't have VRR yet, the only 2021 Sony TV that has it is the 900H and it's beta and not very good. There is a solid chance this won't get VRR. Sony tends to not care about old products after their initial sales period.
That's the biggest reason I'm waiting. The 900H has been a disaster. Though I've seen it mentioned many times that Sony added something, hardware wise, to their 2021 TV's to alleviate the issues that the 2020 TV's (900H) had because of the crappy Mediatek chip's.

For those that don't want to play the waiting game, or don't trust Sony to get it right in a future update, they said at CES that their 2022 TV's will come with working VRR right out of the box. It's cause Mediatek finally got their heads out of their asses and made a working chip

I was about to pull the trigger and this AVS Forum thread gave me HUGE PAUSE.

https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...s.3204777/

Seems like the CPS warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Yeah between Buydig's rep and CPS reviews for all things electronic, I'm ducking out of this one. Better off with an open box at Best Buy and a geek squad extendo

Pulled the trigger based on many of the comments. I had bought one open box from Best Buy last weekend. I just checked and it was obviously a demo, 530 hours. So based on that, taking a chance here.

I've read that thread many times before and totally forgot to look up a repair man lmao. So thanks for the reminder! Maryland doesn't have any, so I'll bow out of this one too.

I'm always on the hunt for a Best Buy open box and then adding their warranty onto it. There will be more of them as we get closer to spring and summer. Hopefully by then Sony will have given us VRR or they'll have told us to kick rocks

No, it was this real life experience, that sounds like hell, plus the multiple reviews on Amazon where 61% of them gave the CPS 4 year electronics warranty a 1 star...so that combined with BuyDig not being a premier seller, or easy for returns, just a no brainer to not take the chance when I can buy a new OLED for a few hundred more at Costco.

Exactly…no context whatsoever regarding his issue or location.

I would agree if it was a little more, "a few hundred" is a stretch. $600 more is nearly 50% (43%) more money you're paying.

can't speak about buydig or the warranty, but it's a great TV. much happier with it vs the LG CX I tried
