I bought an open box 65" Sony A8F OLED from BuyDig a couple years ago. Zero flaws or burn-in and it's been performing flawlessly. It was double boxed for shipping as well.

What doesn't CPS's TV extended warranty cover?
This warranty does not cover any kind of damage to the TV, the cost of removal or reinstallation, or burn in on the television screen. Stolen TVs are also not covered.

I found that on thier website but it's contradictory to what's shown on the box on the Buydig website...

EDIT: found it. burn in is covered-

https://www.buydig.com/shop/produ...r-1500-ACC

Features

Accidental Damage coverage

Remote Control replacement - hot swap, no question asked
Tech Support Included - initial product setup and/or configuration
Authorized service dispatched by Consumer Priority Service

Since this model number include the "CJ" - that probably means these are Costco returns from last fall when they had the $1799 deal for this model TV. Costco has a generous return policy so it is feasible some were returned for reasons not related to faulty performance (like return/rebuy if would not price match, decided to buy from another store as many retailers offer the $1799 price last October, or opted to return the 65" and get the 77" instead as the 77 went on sale at Costco around Black Friday).
There was a similar slick deal a few weeks ago from Secondipity that also had the "CJ" model, so perhaps Costco had an influx of returns to liquidate - they do not typically re-sell returns as open box in store

With that being said, this "refurb" status might have a better chance of being almost like new condition as opposed to other refurb sales on sites like Woot that are more "scratch and dent" of a previous year's model - and thus more of a shot in the dark on what condition you might get if you pull the trigger.

This is better than the LG A1 65" that is the same price at Costco right now. Yes, you go not get the Costco extended warranty you would get if you have the Costco Visa. But that warranty does not cover burn in and still requires you to go through a 3rd party to make a claim (can't just bring it back to Costco if in year 2 something malfunctions).

Anyone know if this is eligible to receive the 10 free movie credits through Sony Bravia Core service - https://electronics.sony.com/bravia-core ?

How does this 65" LG Model OLED65A1AUA.AUS compare? It is brand new available at Costco for $1400 with 5 year warranty and free shipping.

Do not get the A1. 60hz panel, no hdmi 2.1, no VRR. If you're paying 1400 might as well pay another 200 bucks and get all of these worth the C1

None of those things matter that much if you're not a hardcore gamer ... which I'm guessing the person who asked isn't. The biggest drawback of the A1 is actually the brightness - it peaks out around ~400 nits, so it won't look that great if there's a lot of ambient light around. But it'll still look amazing in a dark room.

And for what it's worth, the "for just 200 more bucks" option you're alluding to doesn't include the 5 year warranty, $100 streaming credit, or easier Costco return policy.

That said, I wouldn't recommend buying the A1 ... yet. (I have a feeling the A1 will get a steeper discount in the next few weeks.) If you want a TV now, this A80J refurb deal is pretty solid, just be ready to inspect the hell out of it and return it quickly if anything is amiss.

I love the 1-star review from the person who said it was "useless" because they got the TV on their wall without dropping it. Guess my home insurance is useless, too, since it hasn't burned down yet.

Buydig offers it on ebay $1499 with allstate 2 yr warranty. I wonder if you can add a separate burn in and accidental warranty, if you dont want to deal with the CPS. Anyone have experience with the all state(which is also squaretrade I think) warranty?

On another note: We have a few modern OLED TVs. Never once had burn in. Games, movies, sports, channels with logs. None show burn in. I think for modern TVs you have to try pretty damn hard to get burn. Our kids leave the one is basement on all the time, play games all the time, no signs of burn in.
Do you use the pixel refresher once in awhile to prevent burn ins

I returned the A1, it was a fine TV. But verde toe has the C1 for $1600 including tax, which is a fantastic TV. The increased brightness and 120hz panel is worth it, and was only like $120 more after you consider tax.

So you ripped off Buydig for $200. I don't know if I'd be bragging about stealing.
They are not ripping off BuyDig. They're simply being reimbursed for their time and effort for having to replace a product that should have been properly tested and functioning. BuyDig lost $200 because of their own incompetence not because they were "scammed".

Been waiting for a deal this good. Will be my first OLED. Replacing a Sony 65" LED I bought a few years ago for Super Bowl Sunday. I can't wait to not see a patchy grey screen in movies and story-oriented video games when it's supposed to be totally dark. Hope I get a good one!
There were and are other options for great blacks.

My TCL 8 series has nearly OLED level blacks and gets MUCH brighter than any OLED... This makes HDR highlights have much greater impact.

I agree with the A80J being a good deal - but Not with your assessment of the A1. The 120hz panel matters for non gamers too. Motion handling and judder removal are substantially better. Most normal users can easily tell the difference between a 60hz vs 120hz panel especially when watching sports or such. Costco has the c1 for 400$ with the exact same steaming credit and warranty. It's still worth it for the better panel alone imo. The brightness while certainly important is likely something less important for normal users - most never max out the TV brightness ever.

Yes, definitely a better deal at that price.

Remember this 65" model uses what appears to be a matte screen, really poor move on Sonys behalf….. I own an LG BX 65" and in my opinion the LG looks better, BUT if I didn't have an Oled I still feel this is a very good deal and 9 out of 10 people would be extremely happy with the A80J 65".

The 77" A80J used a glossy screen that looks amazing

I've owned my BX for close to a year and never once ran the pixel refresher , that actually causes damage to the tv and is only recommended to do once a year or if you have image retention.

Pulled the trigger based on many of the comments. I had bought one open box from Best Buy last weekend. I just checked and it was obviously a demo, 530 hours. So based on that, taking a chance here.
I didn't know you can check the hours on a TV, how do you do that?

Found this on avsforum.

"I just checked and the Method 1 sequence...

[Display] [5] [Vol+] [Power] from standby state

...does indeed work, but you have to enter the sequence fairly rapidly, otherwise no go. Took me a few tries to get it right.

Once you get into the menus, to check the hours go to the "Self Diagnosis History" selection on the top menu. That brings you to a page titled "SELF CHECK". Once there, at the bottom left of that screen are three unlabeled 5-digit numbers. From left to right, they are...

[Display Hours] [Boot Count] [Panel Hours]

Mine currently reads: 00868 00023 00868"
