Rumor has it Amazon will be increasing their prime membership to $139.

The price of Amazon Prime Membership will increase from $119/year to $139/year. The change will occur sometime in the next month or so (possibly on March 1, 2022). Prime Student price is also increasing from $59/year to $69/year.

Suggestion

You can lock in the $119 price by purchasing a Gift of Prime membership. These cost $119 right now and they never expire – set your Prime membership not to auto-renew by cancelling the membership using the 'Manage My Membership' tab, and then when it expires you'll apply the Gift of Prime to your account. (You won't lose your full current membership year when cancelling membership, as will be clear on the final screen; they even give the option on the final screen to 'pause' membership.)

Come on man. This increase is a 16% increase since 2018. Inflation over years: 2019 (2.3%, 2020 (1.4%), 2021 (7.0%). Be smarter about your assumptions.

Yes. Years ago I made the mistake of letting my account expire so that I can use a prime membership code I bought on sale. Found out after I was no longer on the grandfathered plan. My family members were booted.

So unfortunate that the series is done…at least temporarily. Now I'm staying for Reacher and LOTR.
Lol. We did a jig when "The Naiomi Show" ended. This should have been done after Season 3.

So this guy expects us to believe- he, a member of this community of people hunting for good deals, wouldnt shop at a 'free' store.. gtfo.. it could be a store exclusively stocked with chinese knock offs that doesnt even have shelves and instead just large mixmatched piles of low quality products , but if it was free most of us would atleast stop by every once in a while to see what we could find lol

FYI, just tried to gift myself. Failed. Ended up having to exchange for a gift card. I did use the email tied to my Amazon account I've had since 2003. Oh well.
You're not supposed to use the Gift code until the day AFTER your Prime expires.

the price of prime i think is still worth it, and it's not hard to figure out how to open a student account. if you get one heavier item like a piece of furniture or whatever, that $139 (or $69) just paid for itself on that one purchase. and as a prime member, you can chat up support any time there's an issue, and they give you credits, additional months of Prime service, etc. not shilling for Bezos, that's for damn sure, but just checking my account, i placed 252 orders in 2021 lol. i make sure to get my money's worth, and i place orders on behalf of several family members as well under that one subscription
Can you elaborate a bit on how to open a student account? Thanks

I never had prime. Living in a big city, some of my orders are delivered the next day. Prime makes no difference on speed. In any case, I am not the kind of person who wants to pay extra for faster service.

Give me the lowest cost.

I've been on the fence for some time about ditching Prime. Service has become sketchy, food is not always fresh, and a few times since the pandemic Amazon has even sent used, counterfeit, or completely wrong items.

I do use Prime video quite a lot however, not a Netflix fan, so that is what keeps me hooked. Decisions, decisions ….
Yeah I quit Prime for a while when I realized most of my stuff was coming S&S and what was not were not exactly burning needs and could wait until the $35 threshold was hit.

Taking care of retired mom now. Since her only income is a bit over 1k a month she qualifies for some elder programs. Since she has an EFT card, it is used to get Prime for $6 a month. Does not change the world or anything but she does enjoy the Prime video benefits.

This is where I'm at. Yes I get that the overall price is keeping w/inflation but the service itself seems to add negligibly to everyday life anymore unless I'm missing something besides Neil Young

Oops. Oh well. Not like I can't afford the $20 a year. I usually have no issues with shipping. I get stuff in a day or two.

I share mine with my wife, does this mean we're also on such a grandfathered plan?

Lock in your price of prime for $119. You can buy the gift of membership as many as you want but can use one at a time.
