If you have a grandfathered account (multiple people), you cannot use this to renew without losing grandfathered account status
(Not sure if a question belongs in the wiki, but for someone who had several folks grandfathered in, how can we check to see that they still are? There used to be an Amazon page that showed their names, but I can no longer find it.)
You can purchase multiples but they must be purchased one at a time
There is sales tax applied to this purchase

The price of Amazon Prime Membership will increase from $119/year to $139/year. The change will occur sometime in the next month or so (possibly on March 1, 2022). Prime Student price is also increasing from $59/year to $69/year.
Suggestion
You can lock in the $119 price by purchasing a Gift of Prime membership. These cost $119 right now and they never expire – set your Prime membership not to auto-renew by cancelling the membership using the 'Manage My Membership' tab, and then when it expires you'll apply the Gift of Prime to your account. (You won't lose your full current membership year when cancelling membership, as will be clear on the final screen; they even give the option on the final screen to 'pause' membership.)

If so fakes are still getting mixed like sd cards for example?
So I just order a gift of prime to myself set the send date to today and click claim on it after my prime cancels/expires I'm assuming that's the correct way.
Please let me know where do you see such option?
Do you see an option Manage Membership on the top right? I think that should have the option to cancel your membership before the next renewal date.
Although, as a package deal is financially OK, annual prepayment to get chained into a single service provider is exactly why we hate the cable TVs

But I probably don't really even need prime shipping anymore. Been on Prime for so long I don't know how long it will take without prime. I get most prime orders next day where I live, but I usually can wait longer. Plus I hate Amazon, mostly due to their abysmal packaging, and would rather buy items elsewhere if available with a similar price. Unfortunately a lot of stuff I buy isn't sold elsewhere.
Their profits are so astronomical, they could easily afford to improve this, but they choose not to.
Most of these people i assume are unaware that Amazons retail business is actually losing money. Selling stuff is just one part of the company, and most certainly is not the part that has them posting strong results. Its all about AWS (amazon web services).
"Meanwhile, revenue from Amazon's online stores dropped 1% to $66.1 billion. Its U.S. segment recorded $206 million in operating losses, while the international side lost $1.63 billion. The retail business has been battling through supply chain problems, a labor market crunch that's persisted because of the Covid-19 omicron variant and inflationary pressures on consumers." (CNBC)
So enough of the "greedy bezos" posts already. Amazon effectively subsidizes their consumer business with the profits from AWS. They are probably hoping a prime price hike will help it break even.
That said, count me among those who are very unsure that the value is there @$140.
- Prime
- $139 a year
- Netflix
- $119.88 a year for SD lol
- $185.88 a year for HD
- $240 a year for 4k content
- HBO max
- $119.88 a year with ads
- $179.88 a year without ads
- Disney+
- $80 a year for just Disney, for now

I get that nobody likes a price increase but it still looks like a competitive price to me, an average internet rando.Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.
