It depends on what kind of feel you prefer. Some people prefer something chunky with a lot of cushion like DC. Vans (slip ons, anyway) are certainly old school (been skating in them since '87) so they're time-tested but they're less protective and have less ankle support.

The nice thing about slip-ons and Chuck Taylors is you "feel" your board a lot better than the newer, chunkier styles. You can't really know which is best for you until you skate with each, of course.

Srs question, just picked up skateboarding. Does having Vans skate shoes help me get gud or is it just style and marketing?

Your feet will hurt big time wearing vans at these price points. That's my experience.

I wouldn't wear these Vans styles to skate in, but some people do. You should definitely buy skate shoes for skateboarding since they're designed to hold up against grip tape and impact but it really depends on what you're going to be doing. I was partial to a shoe with a toe cap and good heel support.

The instructions are about getting a promo code. The links don't open for me at all, tried Chrome, FF, and DuckDuckGo browsers.

These aren't the Vans you want to skate in. They're just skater-style shoes. Real skate shoes are much more "puffier" with added cushion for protection. Think 90s Vans/Airwalks when both of those companies made actual skate shoes versus being stylish brands. Both may still make actual skate shoes idk, but these aren't them.

Your gonna want to stick with pro models to make it simple, they tend to have a lot more padding and tend to be thicker in certain areas where the grip tape does most damage.

Maybe if you're young <16 yr old you can get away skating in these, as your body bounces back.

If older, wear bulkier, more supportive skate shoes.

The other thing about these Vans shoes, is if you're looking to get some air on the board, the board's grip tape will literally destroy these cheap shoes in a flash.

I preferred leather shoes for that reason. "eS" were my favorite 15 years ago.

Good deal thanks! Honey offered $3.14 cashback on all of these too. Not sure those offers are targeted or not.

What kind of question is that. Where whatever you want. The "Vans Police" aren't going to arrest you. LMAO
