Your Brother printers must use the 700 or higher cartridges that added a chip.
On top of that, this particular model is the "top" of all the printers of the chipless generation, meaning it has the fastest pages-per-minute printing, etc. If you went higher in features than this particular printer, then you'd be in "chip toner" (more expensive per page) territory.
So think of this as the best featured CHIPLESS toner monochrome printer in existence that has the absolutely cheapest possible cost per page.

I own many brothers and tried to hack myself. I'm ok with it but just giving heads up regarding chip reset. Still don't like the artificial barrier to purposely stop us from refilling. But no other companies allow it at this point.

EDIT: It worked if I was not logged in. I checked out as a guest. I substituted shipping labels (Staples brand to save money over Avery brand) instead of the paper, for a filler.
