5 years warranty issues when buying the non GOLD labels of this drive thru Amazon, Newegg etc 3rd party sellers (talking about the OEM versions of these drives).

The only reason I can see them canceling is if they run out of stock but doubtful.

I have a 4x4TB Plex server right now, but am balking at spending over a grand for 4 of these golds though.
Most of my video I store at 1080p X265 and bitrate of 1-2Mbps. Most of my files serve 55" or smaller TV screens.
I could obviously start doing 4k and/or higher 1080p bitrate files.
But barring a larger screen, will I even notice? Honestly, I've avoided 4k because while I can display it, I don't see the difference.
Larger HDDs will definitely cut down my curating time since I review and archive media fairly regularly to ensure I maintain adequate storage space.
I have room for two more HDDs so I could just slap a pair of the 16TBs in with an expectation to upgrade the remainder down the road. That seems a waste though as they will just serve as 4TB ones in the interim. Maybe I should just throw 2 more 4TBs in and leave it be.
Just talking it through in my head (and post).
Should I expect HDD prices to drop this year?

That being said, since this is a 7200 rpm drive, it will run warmer than the 6TB drive that you're replacing so I would keep an eye on the temps until you're satisfied that things are okay. Theoretically, it should be okay because the 18TB WD external drives also come with 7200 rpm drives but better safe than sorry.

However, ask yourself- will you always have 55" TV and will you regred that your media is 1080p when you get 75"+ one day?
