Wouldn't need them to, the technology is upgraded immensely every 2 years or so. Everyone's phone has a clock grandpa
Phone is fragile and the battery dies in a day, this battery lasts ten years and the watch is highly durable.

Reminds me of people who's only flashlight is on their phone. They will learn the hard way in an emergency when they need time, light, and a phone and have to rely on their crappy phone battery.

That must be the solar atomic version that looks very similar. I have the solar atomic and love it.
You would think but it was definitely the basic non solar version.

I also have the solar atomic version and think the premium is worth it. I got this watch for my son and he loves it. Also you can get a metal band on AliExpress for cheap.
Thanks will check that out.

nice post but I've been tracking this for over 2 months and the price is maybe a few pennies cheaper. I'm waiting for it to drop $3-$5 which it will but just might not happen until Prime day in July

I think I paid 50 around a year ago. Been a great daily, I wish the glowing light stayed on for more than 1 second but overall one of the best $50 I have ever spent. People ask all the time if its a smart watch. I love the rugged simplicity

I have the atomic version. Paid like 50-60 at kohl's with their discounts. Love it. Had it since 7-8 years, still wearing it now. Highly recommend the atomic one

Same here. I had then non-solar version prior to it, accidentally killed it when I replaced the battery and did not seat the seal correctly, water fried it.

Exactly this has been the everyday price for months. I grabbed it recenlty when I got a $5 offer to stream a single song on amazon a few weeks ago.

That said, even at the current price it is still an amazing value for one of the most reliable watches made and doesn't look as hideous as a number of the other (more expensive) G-Shocks. Added to a large collection of non-digital watches.

Solar not worth it from practical sense. But from makes a ton of sense from zombie apocalypse perspective. laugh out loud

Got this over the holidays. The Amazon one says "illuminator" on the face instead of "Fox Fire." I wonder what the diff is…

Does this model not have the option for 1 or 3 second backlight like some of the other options? Not a dealbreaker but The extra time is certainly nice

Not saying anything about other devices... Out of personal experience on this, mine didn't last 20+ years as the plastic starts to crack and rot inside of a drawer after about 4 years of initial use.

Whether you get this version or the solar atomic, you're getting great bang for your money bc these things are super durable and functional. And they are relatively compact and svelte on the wrist versus some of the other chunky models that look hideous. The regular version is cheap, easy to use, and the battery can be replaced (although the O-ring can be a bit tricky to put back in so you probably need to be at least a little handy). The solar atomic and other more expensive versions don't need battery replacements, but usually cost >$100, and I find the extra functions harder to remember how to access. Also I don't care about the atomic thing. Some people swear by it, but it doesn't bother me to adjust my watch by a minute or so once in a while. The solar atomic version also has a timer that can only be adjusted in minutes, not seconds. This doesn't work for me because when I work out, setting a 30 or 45 second timer is huge for me.
