I have had a bad experience with this company. A SDcard died and they wanted me to ship it to them at my expense. I was not going to spend on shipping a $8-9 card and that was the end of it.

Damn good deal for a 1tb SSD, even if it is SATA. For the gamers that don't know, until Microsoft adds Direct Storage to Windows and PC games start to be developed around it, there will be no noticeable difference with load times between this and the fastest NVME drives. No one knows when that will happen. Probably at least a year or two from now. I already have 2 1tb SK Hynix S31's, otherwise I'd jump on this for current gen games and future games that haven't implemented Direct Storage yet.

that's part of the reason we don't like Newegg.

We don't like Newegg and its retailers - should be the correct statement.
This was a warranty issue with the manufacturer.

Been using these as extra storage for videos and pics mostly or when needing to transfer files between PCs for the last 2 years or so. Not a single problem with them yet. But these have gone for cheaper in the past.

Adata (and probably PNY) did that to me too. It seems to be industry-wide policy

I am not sure of the nuances of your purchase and warranty details, but most of the time in my experience, the return postage for an RMA is handled by consumer (whether cheap or expensive). Of course, some manufacturers are easier to work with compared to others. Not saying you are wrong to feel that way. or that you were not treated wrong, but always check the RMA process from the manufacturer to avoid any confusion.

An example, my child's Dell Gaming laptop broke (hinge/screen), it is under warranty. I had to pay 1-way to ship the laptop for RMA, but Dell covered the shipping cost back to me (and all costs related to repair). It wasn't a cheap shipping cost, but still worth it since I got back my device and it looks brand new.

If they cannot provide warranty after claiming warranty available, you can claim with your credit card company to get a refund- not saying that's a good option but at least it's an option over shipping to Taiwan

If Team Groups hard drives are as worthless as their memory cards I would recommend a hard pass!

You can't compare a laptop to a ssd.Look at it this way. You can buy it cheaper with the knowledge that if it dies, you wont seek warranty. Warranty cost is a major factor in the price of the item. It should be cheaper in that case.
All being said, PNY, Adata, Teamgroup and the likes are poor choice. Spend a few dollars more and buy a better trusted brand.

There's a deal currently posted for the SK Hynix gold that's $8 more. Better brand and it's from Amazon instead of Newegg.
