Not bad price for a compact laptop with these specs and usb-c charging. At least the overall design is professional enough for office and casual use. I use a ROG Strix for work and had to put 3M vinyl on the lid to cover the stupid glowing eye logo and turn off all the RGB stuff.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I bought this around october last year at this same price. Things to consider:

1. the hdmi 2.0 is not connected to the nvidia gpu so no VR
2. The laptop gets absurdly hot if using any usb c charger that's not the original one
3. Display colors are weird and washed out out of the box

I have this as well as the latest Razer Blade 14 w/ RTX3070. With the 1080P panel, the Flow 13 is actually quite capable as a gaming laptop. It actually outperforms the blade if comparing the two while running on battery power. Disable the gpu and it lasts over 8hrs in normal work day use running office apps and occasional YouTube playback. I have no need to run docker containers or vm's on a portable laptop, so 16GB has been plenty. It all comes down to how you plan to use it.

You sure about this? I have the 32gb version of this machine and it's hooked up to a 3440x1440 LG panel via HDMI and as soon as I run any game the GPU springs into action. I assume this would be the same with a VR rig, no?

Disagree with #2, I've used it with everything from a razer 130w usb-c power adaptor to a tiny anker 20w and it doesn't run any hotter with those. It will only pull a full 100w from the asus rog usb-c charger, which is a bit of a bummer. As for the colors, disable vari-bright in the amd/radeon software and colors will look great.

The nvidia gpu pipes the frames into the radeon vega, but for VR you need the hdmi connected directly to the gpu. You can see this on the nvidia display settings

The usb c will only take 100w from the stock charger, any other charger will be capped at 65w. My unit runs much hotter than usual with nonstock chargers. Your unit (and usage) is different than mine, so they'll behave differently

Have had this since early Oct when it was a deal at $200 higher price.

It's fast, portable, light, looks good.

CONS:
Power port is in the MIDDLE of the side of the laptop. Very annoying when using in a non tablet, flipped over mode.

Air vents are in the back of the laptop, so when its flipped over / tablet, it expells fine and keeps the laptop cool/warm under heavier use.

If using this laptop in a "normal" mode, the air vents expel ON ITSELF as the hinge gets in the way. It literally gets burning hot.

My normal usage now is to have a wireless mouse/keyboard and to use this laptop flipped over in order to avoid the above issues which is limiting.

Also battery life when unplugged is terrible. Under 2 hours. If gaming its an hour or less.

It's a good sweet spot, IMO. Maybe not ideal for FPS gameplay though. Look at it more as adding more pixels on top an bottom rather than removing pixels from the sides. 1980x1200 vs 1980x1080

I recommend using the left side USB-C for charging. Additionally, If you or a friend has a 3d printer, Thingiverse has a file for an xg-mobile cover that leaves the left USB-C exposed.

Remove the rubber Rog cap that houses the proprietary port. There's a USB c included as part of it and it's A. On the other side which gives more flexibility B. In an arguably better ergonomic position
