You forgot PURPLE and White.

Also, these are not hierarchy but some sort of purpose of designation.

BLACK = High performance for desktop. Before SSD's these were the gaming drives.
RED and WHITE = These are server drives aka NAS drives.
BLUE = Mid tier desktop.
GREEN = Low power. Cool and efficient. Slow
PURPLE = Security/Surveillance camera drive. Low power but rated for (write/erase) endurance.

Not really a standard to all manufacturers but that's usually is.
It's more like asking someone who has lived in a rural area their whole life why it would be difficult to move to the house an eighth of a mile down the same rural street. 5640 is a 5400 class drive that's just been slightly tweaked / optimized. Maybe it keeps the drive quieter or avoids a resonant vibration or something. Maybe the slight increase in RPM enables an optimization in the R/W head motion algorithm. *shrugs* it really isn't that important. I'd argue that brand preference is 10x more important than RPM, lol.
Yes, you are wrong. Hardware RAID is considered everything that has dedicated controller that handles just the striping/mirroring map and leaves the main processor to donother task.
Unraid, as the name suggest, isn't even RAID. It is an operating system that offers soft raid (e.g. the main CPU is handling it) and other goodies.

Same price on Amazon right now: https://amazon.com/Western-Digita...B09KMGQG5Y

No cashback obviously, but easier returns if needed.

Is this good for a raid? I'm unfamiliar with blue drives.

Software RAID (like mdadm on Linux), probably yes. For hardware RAID, I would stay away from non-NAS drives.

What is there to match? The rotational speed doesn't matter, aside from lower speeds producing less heat, and maybe faster rotational speeds theoretically resulting in higher read/write speeds (although dependent on a number of other factors, too). You can mix and match drives with different rotational speeds in your setup, even if it's a RAID.

Drive I/O is asynchronous. Otherwise cache size and queue depth would have to match as well.

This also gets extra year of warranty when purchased thru WD for total of 3, which is not bad.
