If you are going to spend 1400, you might as well spend 400 more and get C1 or a similar OLED from LG or Sony, to be somewhat future proofed
This depends entirely on what you're doing with it. The C-series has basically become a gaming display at this point. The noteworthy addition being full HDMI 2.1 support, 120hz, and VRR. If you are (or ever intend) to connect your TV to a high-end PC or modern game console, absolutely, without question, the C1 is worth the extra money.

If you are strictly watching TV and movies, those differences mean nothing. You'll never utilize them. The A1, despite being HDMI 2.0, supports eARC so you're maintaining the same compatibility regarding passing lossless audio. The only meaningful difference here that I'm aware of is that the C1 gets a little bit brighter, which is going to make for better viewing in bright rooms and slightly punchier HDR. Given that the A1 will still look outstanding, I'm not sure the extra $400 just for slightly better HDR is worth it. If you are viewing in a bright room, you may find the C1 the better buy, but otherwise, if you aren't a gamer, I would not hesitate to get the A1 at this price.

If you buy using Costco Citi Visa card, the warranty is first 2 years from manufacturers (1 year extra warranty due to Costco) + next 2 years from Citi Visa cards + last 3 years from allstates, so you get 7 years warranty. You may choose to not get Allstate warranty, but my TVs have generally shown issues around 5 year mark. It used to be square trade earlier instead of Allstate, when I got a replacement tv with no hassles.

The 55' c1 with 2 years warranty burn in included is at $1290 on amazon. You can have the 4 years for an additional $30.

Thank you for this, I was going to type the same thing. Something less than 100% of TV shoppers play video games, so having the choice not to pay extra for features that largely appeal to games is good.

Just to add, the idea of "future proofing" any sort of technology is a great way to spend too much money. At some point in the not too distant future, 8k/120FPS or scratch n' sniff TVs or whatever will require a new HDMI standard.

In my use case I'm going from a switch/XBox One on a 13 year old plasma. I'm not really concerned about the refresh rate too much since I'm fine gaming on what I have. But I am concerned about future compatibility. Is there a chance a future console won't talk to the TV since it's not HDMI 2.1? I thought a large part of what 2.1 has baked in is DRM management and there could be some issues there if your whole system isn't 2.1 compatible? Thanks for any insight.

Here is a comparison & differences of the two:

"The LG A1 OLED and the LG C1 OLED deliver very similar picture quality but differ in the extra features available. The C1 is a better gaming TV, with four HDMI 2.1 ports, support for variable refresh rate technology (VRR), and a 120Hz refresh rate. For movie lovers, the C1 is also a slightly better choice, as it can remove judder from any source, and it has an optional Black Frame Insertion feature to help reduce persistence blur".

Walked in Costco this past weekend and bought a 77" A1 OLED marked down to $1799. It was an unopened online order that got returned to the store.

why OLED tvs are hdmi 2.0 & 60hz,

not hdmi 2.1 & 120hz, ?

edit: they are a1 class
They have because they need lower models for people that don't care or need higher specks.Just like computers or cars.

I thought the whole point of buying TVs from Costco was their incredible electronics warranty?
Why the Allstate warranty?
Costco's five-year warranty works typically as follows:
Year 1: manufacturer warranty
Year 2: Costco's in-house Concierge service
Years 3 to 5: Allstate Extended Warranty.

The exceptions are some TVs where. the manufacturer provides three years of manufacturer warranty.

$200 off is nothing compared to the 48" which just recently was $400 off. Some might want to save that extra $200 if their wish came true.

EDIT
Cheapest I found. Buy at your own risk.

99% sure that's a scam website - all prices unrealistically low, and their address seems to lead to a trashed out neighborhood per google maps. It's infuriating that google shopping refuses to filter out these scammers.

The warranty plus easy 90 days return(for electronics). I can legit buy the tv, use it for 89 days and then return it with no reason needed. I could see people buying the the most expensive oled costco have just for this Sunday Super Bowl party and returning it later.
