Man I'd be jumping on these if I could use the damn nest app with them. Come on google! Either enable backwards compatibility or add all nest app features to google home.
Cameras are great. But the app sucks and ruins the whole experience. I have 3 old cameras on nest app that work great. The two new on google home in combination with the app just suck.
Seems those prices are the same on google and bestbuy.com as well.

I'm interested in the Nest Indoor cam. I have the older model, and it's great. I heard about the new indoor cam not being as great as the older model. I don't know if it's related to the Google Home app, which I refuse to use. I prefer the Nest App. Any feedback would be great, and is it worth it to buy the newer model.

I've heard mostly the same things, with one of the gripes being the poor transition to the google home app from the nest app

I have 6 Nest Cam/IQ's and 5 more in the Hub Max devices which are not very good. The Nest app can sho all of them thankfully. I have tried to use the Google home app, but as others have stated the experience isn't as good. Not because it's different, it's just more cumbersome to see what you want and there are still missing features.

I could use a few more cameras but I don't want to have to use the home app just for 1 or 2 cameras.

I want to like them and jump all in... But I have a Nest indoor camera next to a Eufy Cam 2k, and the video quality/clarity isn't even a comparison. It's a shame for they didn't do a more pro camera. I understand 1080p uses less battery for the outdoor battery cameras, but would be nice if they offered a more pro 2k or 4k camera option too. Maybe one day.

I would recommend against at least the doorbell battery. Lots of complaints including from myself that the battery percentage drops to zero rather rapidly in cold temps despite being hardwired. If you don't intend to hardwire maybe your expectation is met - but if you live anywhere in the north and intend to have it hardwired thinking you ll never have to take it down to recharge - I would ignore this.

Google halfway acknowledged there is an issue but not directly to consumers and they haven't said anything about a potential fix. It seems it simply stops trickle charging the battery once temps drop below a certain level. Even when removing it to charge back up indoors it takes a while for it to say it's not too cold anymore. Kinda silly and not happy about it. Hope they will give those of us who bought this at least a steep discount on the new fully wired version that is supposedly arriving later this year.

I'm a big Google and Android fan and have a lot of hubs etc but for cameras my Wyze V3s are far more reliable and better pq than the one Nest cam I have. Only good thing I'll say is that compared to my previous Ring 2 this doorbell never drops connection and is way faster at notifications and switching to live view.. So it's not all bad.

Yes the transition between the nest and google app is poor as well as the authentication. Would be more interested in the quality of the wifi transmitters as the range on the original models were just ok.

Can you buy the old cams somewhere to use with the Nest App? Want a couple while I figure out a more permanent, wired solution. I already pay for the doorbell storage, would be nice to get more use out of those dollars. And really don't want to buy another system.

So the Old Cams work with the Nest App, but the new camera's don't? I use the Nest App for my thermostat, but the Home App is nice for a better history view of thermostat stuff.
