If you aren't gaming, does 120hz still make a difference? I legitimately don't know.

This TV actually has Motionflow™ XR 240. Theres a setting that actually lets you adjust it or you can have it on auto.

I really like the Sony I have, but the Samba tv invitation is so intrusive I can't recommend a Sony.

I don't care about 4k @ 120 hz. I don't game at all and expecting to find that at this price point is silly.

It's the 24p (movies) and 1080p @ 120hz that I care about. Sony sets are fantastic at upscaling to 4K but that's why native 120hz is so imperative for watching non-4k content.

Also you should check out Rtings... this is an IPS panel, the blacks are trash.

I know IPS has a very bad reputation especially in online enthusiast forums. But many don't care about —or can't readily see— the IPS v. VA picture quality differences. And then there's the off-angle viewing superiority of IPS that I think makes IPS screens an arguably better choice for a very large portion of the non-enthusiast market.

I'm one of these. I can see the difference in black and contrast quality, but I have what I think is a very typical family room/great room setup where most watching isn't going to be dead center, and it's almost never going to be dark enough where inky blacks can be noticed by the family (not to mention that they don't care, lol).

Yeah, I'd love to get an OLED. But the cost-value isn't there for me, and I don't want any anxiety about burn-in. So IPS is a pretty good option for me. That said, I just got a Sony X85j, which seems to be a pretty rare beast, being a VA panel with good picture quality AND exceptional off-angle viewing, at $800 for 65" right now.
