This definitely seems like a worse deal than the 80K mile offers (or maybe it was even higher?). It says you get the pass after spending 5K in 3 months which is relatively heavy spending....but lets say you apply and get the card in 1 week 2/18/22, then complete the spending requirements in 2 months (2.5k a month) instead of 3) earliest you would get the companion pass would be 4/18/22 and it will expire on 2/28/23 so only 10 months of use) (most likely tied to statement date or something of the like - so likely even less). The 50K difference in flights is enough to cover at least 2 RT flights and likely more. Whereas with the 80K sign up bonus if you work the way to the companion pass you end up with the remainder of the year you qualify and the following year for free companion flights and you have more miles to book with......this one is a pass

Someone can travel with you whenever you do, for free. You still pay tax on fare. The pass lasts 1y.

It's a nice deal, you have to factor in how many times you would use it in a year to calculate the saving. Often southwest tickets are cheap in first place. Meanwhile there are other non related credit cards out there with 80,000-100,000 points which I think is a better deal.

If you are a hardcore flyer on southwest, it would be a slickdeal.

I just learned today about "Earn CP + 30K Points w/ $5K Spent"

Just to confirm, us DEC/JAN folks got the crappier deal right? wasn't waiting a better option if we had a crystal ball?

In anycase, since we signed up in DEC, we cant simply scrap our Priority card and say get a Premier card instead? We are stuck w/ what we have?

The article is correct. I had a companion pass for 2019 and wouldn't allow me to add my companion for a flight after the explanation date.

If I understand correctly from past forums, the Dec/Jan card getters will need to hit the full 125k points but would enjoy Companion Pass for all of 2022 once achieved and then all of 2023. Companion Pass for this deal would expire end of Feb 2023.

Sign up bonuses and points from spending are the two most common ways to get points towards CP. It's difficult to get the 125K points without signing up for two cards. Also, if you already got the signup bonus for this card less than 24 months ago then you can't get it again. The ideal scenario is to go back and forth every 2 years between you and your companion signing up for 2 cards each time. That guarantees you two years CP each time.

Not sure I understand how this works. My wife and I want to alternate years, similar to what it sounds like you do.

When I look up the performance business card, it doesn't seem to include the companion pass. Are you getting companion pass via some other accumulation of points? Do you need to get both the business card and one of the consumer ones on here?

After reading, it seems like it is indeed what I thought. Basically, one of the offers here will get you companion pass to Feb 2023. Then they have another "feature" where if you accrue 125k in a year, it gives you CP for the remainder of that year plus the entirety of the following year.

The fastest way to accrue that 125k is by leveraging both the consumer and business card offers.

You end up needing to spend $10k/6 months, but can kind of game it by returning things after they post.

Then, you just cancel both cards once you get your CP so that you can start your 24 month wait before repeating?

Is it hard to get the business one or are you just saying youre like a "self proprietor" or something?
