This definitely seems like a worse deal than the 80K mile offers (or maybe it was even higher?). It says you get the pass after spending 5K in 3 months which is relatively heavy spending....but lets say you apply and get the card in 1 week 2/18/22, then complete the spending requirements in 2 months (2.5k a month) instead of 3) earliest you would get the companion pass would be 4/18/22 and it will expire on 2/28/23 so only 10 months of use) (most likely tied to statement date or something of the like - so likely even less). The 50K difference in flights is enough to cover at least 2 RT flights and likely more. Whereas with the 80K sign up bonus if you work the way to the companion pass you end up with the remainder of the year you qualify and the following year for free companion flights and you have more miles to book with......this one is a pass

Someone can travel with you whenever you do, for free. You still pay tax on fare. The pass lasts 1y.

It's a nice deal, you have to factor in how many times you would use it in a year to calculate the saving. Often southwest tickets are cheap in first place. Meanwhile there are other non related credit cards out there with 80,000-100,000 points which I think is a better deal.

If you are a hardcore flyer on southwest, it would be a slickdeal.

Not yet. But my first statement closed with $4900 (and charges pending that went to next statement). A day after the statement had closed, the pending charges posted and the Chase web page said "you did it! Please allow up to 8 weeks to receive your 30,000 bonus rewards". But it does not mention the companion pass. (Which I why I am checking slickdeals to see how it went for everyone else!)

-edit - just logged into Southwest account. The 30,000 points and companion pass status have shown up!

- edit - Just spent $1100 for 2 round trip tickets. Spent another $11.20 for the 2 matching companion tickets. As these were trips that I have to take, I am so grateful to Slickdeals for pointing this promotion out. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.Applause

Statement closed and 5K spend met, but Chase and SW continue to show only the 5K but not the bonus or CP just yet after almost a week. Chase CS confirmed that they see the promotion under the account and that it would take 4-8 weeks (1-2 bill cycles) max to show up. Hope it comes soon.

Edit: Companion pass and 30K points showed up on 2nd statement.
