I actually picked up a 590 from a local Walmart that cleared them out for $50.00 about 18 months ago. Just out of curiosity I slid it in my Home Theater system and listened to it for a few days before selling it. It sounded just fine but was missing some features I wanted. To tell you the truth, I thought it sounded better for movies then my Denon S920W.
I don't want to hijack this thread but it's kinda quiet anyway.
Does anybody have a recommendation on a cheap AV receiver that has 5.1 (7.1 would be nice but not necessary) HDMI inputs, and 2 zone capability.
Trying to update my parents old Denon receiver that only uses composite inputs for video. It's creating issues with decoding surround from the audio sources because the receiver has a limited number of audio inputs (digital coax and optical)

The Denon,Yamaha or Onkyo from Costco is probably the best you're gonna do right now. I just had a friend with a Costco membership order the Yamaha for me.
I bought this a little over 3 years ago and it's powering a good 3.1 setup--two infinity ref tower speakers (R253), their center channel (152) and their sub (r12). I've had absolutely zero issues thus far and it's been more than adequate. The system was smart enough to shut itself down when one of the wires became free from the back of my center and touched the other wire (scary) and even notified me on the screen as to what the issue was.
I feel like setup isn't super great (within the menu of the speaker system) and I've definitely had some arc/latency issues with audio not starting as soon as a video starts and instead picking up one second late, but I'm not sure if that's a system issue or one with my tv as the issues weren't present when I had a sony tv, but began happening when moving to a Vizio one. The arc issue, where audio wasn't working but it would turn the tv on/off, was remedied by using an optical cable as well for the audio while also still retaining the HDMI in there for arc controllability. Again, this issue wasn't present on the Sony tv, but appeared on the Vizio.
All in all, for the price, very happy with the system. I think I paid $300, 3+ years ago.
I sure hope this comes back...my luck that I've been watching this one at Best Buy and watching the receivers on slickdeals only to not check until about 2 hours after it expired...literally.

It's back! You can also get a Used: Excellent (essentially new) from Best Buy for $187 if you want to save even more!

Thanks for letting me know I appreciate it. I actually saw the 790 post yesterday and figured this one was as well. I jumped on it and grabbed one from Amazon using the 20% off at Amazon w/ Amex deal. I just forgot to post here.
