You'd need a router table/top either way - either DIY to custom fit or store bought.
So I guess the real question for experienced woodworkers is: If I haven't bought a table yet is it worth the expense and work of getting this JessEm lift and some table solution vs the Bosch table for occasional projects? Thanks again.

You just might find that a cheap solution is adequate for your needs. And in truth, a basic rig is capable of doing just about anything you might ask of your router/table - a commercial top and pro level lift just makes it easier. After using it a while, you can decide if it's worth it to you to upgrade to something with a nicer fence, dust collection, t-tracks, lift, etc.
Plus, you can use your basic top to make something much fancier.
