*IF* you can get the Amex $120 back and current 8-10% portal cashback then I think this is a good deal. That would get the price down around $500. It would be a stretch to buy the parts here for that much even if you could get an Nvidia card at normal retail. Specs are all OK for a basic gaming system.
I'd say it's still a decent deal even at $680.

If the GPU is 1660 super, yes it is a decent deal.
But it is just 1650 super.
Not a bad deal.
But not a decent deal.

I was wondering if having an 8gb stick and a 4gb stick of RAM was a good thing. I thought that for dual channel memory it was advised to have two matching sticks, such as 2 x 8gb. I'm not very computer savvy so any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I got this Dell 3880 and put 8GB RAM in it to make a matching set for a total of 16GB.
It was easy and cheap. This 8GB RAM [newegg.com] will fit.

Previous deal: $640
Intel i5-10400: ~$140
1660 Super: ~$400
8GB DDR4-2666 RAM: ~$30
256GB NVME SSD: ~$27

This deal: $685
Intel i5-10700: ~$270
1650 Super: ~$280
12GB DDR4 RAM: ~$50
512GB NVME SSD: ~$45

This has a better CPU, bigger NVME SSD, and more RAM... but this deal is not for you if you plan on selling the GPU. For comparison I priced out a Core i5 12400, 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM, 512GB NVME, Case, and PSU, and it came out to $462. I.E. about $220 less than this. So you can get a better CPU, slightly better quality components, and a 1650 Super for about this price if you build yourself. Obviously not for everybody, but provides a price reference.

All in all, I'd say this is a pretty crappy deal.

Not a good deal.
For this price it should be 1660 super.

Just did a clean install of Windows 11 on my rig, that previously had a Windows 10 Pro license, and was able to upgrade without any fuss.

Used the "Create Windows 11 Installation Media" option from here:

https://www.microsoft.com/softwar.../windows11

Would probably be in your best interest to do a clean install, since this probably has a lot of bloatware on it.

Also here's a link showing how to see your Windows 10 key (if you're paranoid it won't automatically retain your license key when doing a clean install of WIndows 11):

You can easily upgrade ram. 8gb ram is less than 36 bucks. Instead of using 4+8ram, buy 8ram pc and add one mote 8 gb ram. Also, 512GB NVME is not large. Anyway you need to buy one more SSD.

I will not buy a dell desktop because I don't have $120 credit though I have two Amex cards.
The offer wasn't showing up on my card, but when I asked about it in their automated chat I was sent a link to add it. Worth trying!

I bought an 8940 last year and it is much the same. I recently did the deal for the two WD Gold 16TB drives and popped them in there. I was going to upgrade the NVME at the same time but could not figure out how to get to it without taking the entire case apart. It is not on the motherboard as I expected but in some proprietary enclosure at the top of the case. I decided to leave it be.

I built my last computer and the motherboard finally died after eight years. I did not feel like doing that this time. This PC should be fine for a while but might go back to self build in the future for some more flexibility.
Your comments help me to decide to go for this. I'm not very handy so if the NVME is hard to upgrade can I add a 2nd 1TB NVME instead ( is there an extra slot for this)? That's all the extra storage I really need.
