Writing files to the SSD wears it out over time. System drives take on a lot of temporary files. This drive is using a manufacturing method that makes the drive cheaper to make but less reliable over time. Stack that with the unknown nature of why it was returned and only a 90-day warranty from BB, I think it's risky putting an OS install on it if you're a heavy user.

Warranted to work for 90 days only and not any longer. Despite it being Samdungy - these Drives are QLC and most likely removed from Storage Arrays like PURE etc. Who knows how long they have been running 24/7 and with Write intensive Apps accessing them. I would avoid these or return if the Manufactured date is 1 YR or older.

Man this is an insanely good price per gig, even for a refurbished, SATA, QLC drive.
I really wish I had the need for it right now.
Thanks to WDs SSD factory botching exobytes of NAND, prices will likely spike soon...

Oddly enough I ordered this a few days ago before any deal sites or the buildapcsales subreddit had this posted and I kind of slapped myself mentally for not thinking of posting it anywhere. I was confounded by the price as compared to the 860 QVO refurb.

Perfect for large game installs. Not sure I would trust it as a OS drive tho. In for one!

There's no reason not to trust it. I've bought a couple refurb drives from Best Buy before with no problems. I just wouldn't like the speeds for a main drive, but it's still better than a HDD.

Well-said.

I only buy Samsung SSDs, after having a Kingston failure early in my SSD adventures.

To those considering purchasing this, be aware that these QVO drives are indeed Samsung's economy line, and don't have the same warranty, speed or top tier awards that their Samsung standard and 'Pro' line SSD/NVME drives do.

Thinking of getting one, but a little apprehensive about the usage on these drives. Tip: You can check the total power on hours and drive health using a tool like Crystal Disk Info
