For when SHTF … then sodium intake will be the last thing on the mind
This thread is proof that people will literally argue about anything on the Internet.
Trust me, if you're starving or your kids are starving and you find a can of this stuff in the back of the cabinet, the last thing you're going to do is analyze the nutritional facts to make sure it's keto or gluten free or free range broccoli or whatever.
According to camelx3 it bounces between this price and normal retail price. https://urlhasbeenblocked/product/B00FTETZ7Q

So right now it's 40% below the normal retail price.

Yes, or 50% of the time over last year, it costs this OP-posted price.

I guess the point is good price, but not exactly a Slickdeal.

1 serving being 190 calories is kind of a joke imo. I'll need to eat twice that and a steak or something. Feels like they want to advertise high serving count.

That and you're consuming one-third of your sodium daily intake from one serving.

Serving sizes are standardized at 1 cup for any soup. Look at any can of soup and it should say 'serving size 1 cup'

Jesus....look at the amount of sodium. I wish there were foods that you can store for long term that wouldn't give you a stroke

It's mostly maltodextrin a filler that is extremely high on the glycemic index, worse than sugar. Then high amounts of palm oil that it's extremely processed and provides no nutrition. Instead of "survival", this will literally kill you (slowly, but surely).

I just store the non-perishable foods that I regularly eat as an emergency stash in my pantry. Just make sure you rotate the stock, so that you are always consuming the oldest products first. No reason for me to buy the higher priced with more added preservatives "emergency" foods. Though the just-add-water aspect of them makes them convenient.

Why is it called 'emergency food' when it's just regular canned food in a ridiculously large quantity?

Not a good deal. Not a good food. Really, a stupid endeavor altogether.

It's shelf life
