Works out to $5.83 per pound.

Instead, buy organic oats at $2 a pound, and throw in some cheap organic sugar?!?

Problem: Oats are good for you and satiate your hunger, but are high carb boring to eat to carb addicted people.

Solution: Add a ton of sugar and some cinnamon to make oats go down easier and to reverse satiation resulting in craving more carbs soon.

This has *just 8 grams of added sugar per cup. I wouldn't call it terrible. The cinnamon (which this doesn't have!) also helps balance blood sugar and may lower those spikes that lead to hunger rebound.

I usually use these as flavor enhancer in my homemade oatmeal. I mix a cup of this with a cup of oats and add some almond/peanut butter and other stuff.
But I know it defeats the the main appeal of this cup that is to just have a quick breakfast in 2 minutes by microwaving.

Regarding the expiration date, I got the bagged version of this from Amazon a couple of years ago, which was very close to expiration. It smelled stale. I complained and they sent me another pack.(some people believe they put these on your tab!)

I prefer to just make oatmeal myself, but these aren't as bad as I was expecting. So I'm passing, but this is about half the sugar compared to Quaker oatmeal packets, once you normalize for serving size.

I usually do lower sugar quaker packets or just measure out quick oats and then add my own flavorings, toppings

Like others suggested I'm going to add plain oatmeal or other non sugar fillers. I don't understand why companies add so much sugar, when people can just add table sugar to taste ( for those who don't it's hard to remove)

The cinnamon used in food products isn't the blood sugar stabilizing form of Ceylon cinnamon. While the cinnamon used is grown in nature, it's not "real cinnamon"

How would you know? It's not common to write the type of cinnamon on the package but it's not an expensive spice so i don't see why it wouldn't be real cinnamon. Of ourse it could be Cassia/Saigon (just like in most grocery stores) but it's still actual cinnamon with more or less the same benefits.

Ceylon cinnamon is pretty uncommon here. Even McCormick sells Saigon as it tastes stronger and apparently more popular. The main advantage of Ceylon is that it's kinder on the liver.

Thanks OP. This only contains about two teaspoons of sugar. Not bad at all
