This is an extremely budget CPU that came out in 2016... How do you think it performs 6 years later?

Answer is: Don't buy this for you worst enemy.

Calm down. This thing performs better than a raspberry pi4 but have yet to see someone say to not buy those.

This thing has a TDP of 6W max with quick sync hevc support. Seems like it would make a decent Linux box.

This would be just fine as an addition to a project that needs a dedicated PC, such as a CNC machine, laser cutter, 3d/resin printer, etc and whatever. It would probably do pretty well as a dedicated PC in the kitchen for finding, showing and keeping track of recipes or doing a video call while you cook.

Could also be a good first laptop for a kid, provided you disable the webcam in Windows Device Manager and make a standard user account for them.

Might be a good (but cruel) homework laptop too, it can surf the web just fine, run office software and even play back videos, but good luck trying to play modern non-web based games on it. šŸ’»šŸŒ

We can all get to MC website obviously but it would be helpful if OP would've placed the system specs in his post to begin with.

This is exactly what I've been looking for actually. My boy is turning 10 next month and I'm sure he will love this over his almost 5 year old Chromebook.

Heres the specs...

It's $80. When people buy a car not everyone needs a Ferrari. This is fine for light use.

Got to view this as something like a all in one raspberry pi with a screen, battery already included. plus keyboard and mousepad. as mentioned, you can use it for dedicated use for something like a machine for managing a 3D printer, kitchen tablet/screen, etc.

It's not that bad. I bought one just for the sake of it being so cheap. It's up to par with most chrome books and it's a better bargain than something like the pi 400.

You obviously should not be using this for any serious work loads or gaming, but it can be a good computer for light tasks. I'd much rather have one of these than something like a fire tablet because it's the same price and it's a win 10 device. It's a good web browser for school and does just fine running office products. If you're into this sort of thing you can throw Linux on here, and point to a repo for pretty decent driver support.

I'm currently using mine for emulation and as a terminal to access my workstations at home. I swapped out the thermal pad for some K5 pro thermal paste, and it stabilized the clock speeds at 2.09 in performance mode. The temps really don't go over 70c which is not bad for passive cooling. It could stand to be over clocked a bit, but you really don't need to for basic tasks.
