Ok, so I've posted up a couple nice automotive scanners in the past.
However if you just need a simple car code read, nothing fancy and no more, this is definitely the device for you!
Under $20 allows you to read and clear your engine's ECU/PCM codes.
With today's gas prices it would cost you $2 just to get to Autozone and back for a code read.
$16.86 after coupon code:
88TDK3HC
Beware though, just like having a truck, people will come to you for Code Reads, lol.

I like keeping one in the car as well as the garage.

Does look far nicer/more detailed than most of the cheapies
You won't get the sweet gauge customization and info the phone will give you though.
I've found the BT ones work better for datalogging but not for rapid reading and clearing of codes.

$2 to drive to AutoZone is way cheaper than $16 seems way slicker the deal
Good to hoard tho

Before buying this, I also already had a bluetooth reader paired with my Android phone and Torque Pro. But the standalone reader that the OP mentioned is way more convenient to use.
