I'm not that knowledgeable with hacking these but I don't believe this is a good one due to the button layout that's very unique to MK.

So I have this and I would say it was one of those regretted purchases, even as a massive MK fan. Expect a ton of damage, QC issues with these even if the box is in good shape. This specific cabinet has a lot of ergo issues but it is fixable with longer screws and rubber washers to bring up the control deck so there's no lip for the edge. But I would say unless you have someone to play MK with, you might want to wait for the new MK cabinet with online play.

This question comes up often for Arcade1up cabinets. There is nothing about these cabinets that would make it convenient or easy to hack it. I own six different Arcade1up's, and the appeal is the size, design, and playing the games that are meant for that particular cab.

I have two different Pac-Man cabs, NBA Jam, Marvel Superheroes, Asteroids, and Tempest. That pretty much runs the gamut of arcade games, but when I want to play 1942, Donkey Kong, Elevator Action, Gauntlet, Rampage, Smash TV, or any NES/Sega/Atari games from the 80's and early 90's, the AtGames Legends is my go-to. I have a Pro (two sticks, with track ball) set up on my 55" TV over a bar that I could theoretically be sauced to play 7,000 games. I also have a Mini (one stick) that is hooked up to a second 55" TV hung vertically that could theoretically be sauced to play a collection of vertical games.

My advice for anyone wanting an all-in-one arcade without having to build a cabinet from scratch: buy an AtGames Legends Ultimate Arcade, and then load a USB with all the games you'll ever want to play. It will cost you about $600, and you'll save yourself time and money trying to turn something (an Arcade1up) into something it's really not equipped to do.

Or do what I did, and just buy a Mini ($50) or Pro ($100) and hook it up to your TV.

The MK2 machines that are at most Walmart stores do not come with the riser and lit marquee. The negative on this cabinet is that the control panel doesn't sit flush with the edges so it feels awkward playing it with others. There is a modification on a panel that can fix the issue for and extra 40 https://arcademodup.com/product/a...nel-riser/

There is a new Mortal Kombat 1 arcade1up cabinet coming out that will include online play, probably why these are getting the deep discount. If you don't care about online play I think it's a good deal.

To add on to Simoleon's post....if you're going to go that route, it's easiest to invest in an X-Arcade Tankstick (appx $200) and hook up an old computer with MAME on it to your TV or monitor. If you don't have an old computer and don't feel like buying one from craigslist (but literally any from the last 15 years will work), you can check out RetroPie.

yeah already have retropie working, just need the physical parts besides controllers

It's honestly the best way to go (Legends), and I say that with a room full of A1up cabs behind me that I regret buying. But, if you're set on the aesthetic look of the A1up cabs then spending the bigger cost to mod one is fine, but have to just remember these are toys made with cheap crap so expect the screen to randomly die, and things like that.
