IMO good price compared to a lot of the other DRAMless stuff, especially considering the performance this reaches. I wouldn't think about comparing this so much to the drives out there with DRAM, but compared to more commodity drives, this is pretty decent.

Maybe you missed the bit where this is a refurb? It has 90 days warranty compared to the 5 years for a new one. Although a new one is $40 more I'd be inclined to pay it IF I was prepared to buy a dramless drive... which I'm not.

I generally tend to keep away from refurbed HDDs, but are used SSDs just as risky?

This is bestbuy return sell has refurbished but whe. U get most likely wil have 4 years or more of warranty. Purchased more than 10 nvme 970 refurbished from bestbuy. Each one had over 4 years of warranty left

No, I'm well-aware that it's refurb. I'll get them in, take a look at their current stats, and then I can return if I'm unsatisfied with what I see. For me, it's as easy as that. I personally have not had a Samsung drive fail on me, so I'm willing to take that risk. And of course I'll look and see what is left on their manufacturer warranty.

So non-refurb is worth 50% more? Based on previous threads on geek squad NVMe these are near new and easily returned to BB.

Totally get the refurb hesitancy but I think if you checkout prices over the past 3 months you will see this is a good deal for what it is. Crucial 1tb was 80 new but who knows what controller and lesser warranty of only 3 years I believe.

I've been getting these BB 'refurbs' for years..never had an issue, most barely used or essentially new/returned...

....and Samsung is still top of the heap for SSD/NVMe when averaging all metrics (at least the DRAM containing models when compared to similar)

here's a review [anandtech.com]for this one.

I was about to argue with you about it being DRAMless, but I was confused with the 'Pro' line of drives I run in my machines. This indeed is DRAMless and while respectable performance, you can tell it lacks some of the punch of the higher tier models.

Review and benchmark, for any that are curious..

Not for me, 14% more money for same capacity is a no-go. Planning to use in laptop.

Maybe for other purposes it's a different story.

So this DRAMless ssd outperforms other ssd with DRAM? What is the benefit of DRAM on ssd anyway?
