Any recommendations on a good enclosure for this to turn it into a portable hard-drive? Doubt my computers support the faster transfer, just want something reliable that'll house it well
Guys... my Toshiba kxg50znv256g NVME from 2017 shows in CrystalInfo as GOOD 26%. It has 129,000 GB Host Writes and 43,000 GB Host reads. Is this really accruate on the 'Life' rating vs percent?
Does it really need replacing?
In contrast... My HP EX920 512GB shows nearly the same exact stats but CrystalInfo says GOOD 100% ???
I picked one up when it was on SD Front page sale for $10 more on--
and was even able to get the price match for the $10 difference by calling and speaking with cust svc.
Crystal Disk showed the drive I received was barely used and is much faster than what it replaced. Great inexpensive upgrade.

I bought a plus and a pro almost 2 years ago refurbed by geek squad. Both were unused (0 reads or writes) and are still going strong. No complaints from me. Not saying you'll get the same thing, but I feel like I got pretty lucky.

tia!
That's a lot of writes... If the TBW for the drive is 175TB (can't find it, but seems reasonable) that sounds correct. The HP drive might not have TBW as a metric in SMART.
TBW isn't a magic number in most cases. It's just a warranty limit. Many drives can exceed TBW by several times. These older Toshiba based drives don't have the best reputation, however.
The HP has a TBW limit of 320TB and is Micron based. It's less of a worry.

I don't want to get stuck with some Crypto return.
I have plenty of reasons not to trust the Geek Squad.
