Product like this is NOT designed to LAST or to be USED without power. it's designed to kick in when power is lost (I own this one for 5+ years) to allow a safe shutdown of computers (to be able to save work) etc...


I once had it run my cable modem when I lost power (only that) for about 4 hrs while I was on a laptop...

As an anecdotal point of reference, one of these held up my networking equipment (cable modem, UI UDM Pro, POE switch and 3 APs) for about 40 minutes during last year's power outages in Texas. The same model held up a Mac Mini and 48" 4k display for long enough for me to power down other parts of my home lab gracefully and then power the Mac itself down (probably ~15 minutes as I shut down my NAS and Proxmox server and a bunch of NUCs). In total I have 6 of these on various machines and they did what the needed to, which was allow me to shut things down gracefully. During the next 5 days of rolling blackouts we used the power remaining in them to charge phones, tablets, and the kid's Switch. Between these things and Ryobi tool batteries we never ran out of power for our small electronics and I've been pleased with them overall.

I have been using a couple of these for about 3 years now. The top middle power button light will eventually start dimming and flickering and go out, but the unit will still work.

depending upon how want devices and their total wattage draw is what determines how long it will stay on. typically if you are drawing 1/2 of the maximum watts that the unit can handle is what is normally stated in the specs. so, if you just have a low wattage modem and router plugge into it then it might stay on for a couple of hours vs. if you have high end gaming system that is very high wattage (high end graphics card) then it might only stay on for a few minutes, just enough time to safely shut down by means of the software or manually.

never plug a laser printer or heater et. al. into a UPS else you are just asking for trouble... fire!

actually, yes. the one's I run for the most part keep a steady supply of power for the occasional blip in electricity that will cause all other devices to sag or turn off and back on (which can't be good for electronics). and when I do get a complete loss of power, the UPS will kick in and give me a chance to save work and shut down the computer. but no, not gonna sit and play games or watch moviews when the power goes out unfortunately.

Probably 9 minutes under full load. I use mine to give me shutdown time when I know the power will not be back for a while. Usually lasts 20-30 minutes with my servers.

Time running time depends on the load. While it can support up to 900W output for 9 minutes, it should last longer unless you have a sustaining 900W consumption. Anyway, I do not use it at maximum load and it only matter for desktop computers and NAS. For other things, the power lost is less an issue or it will run much longer. For my garage door opener, it will only run a few times.

I can confirm the power light will die. Works fine though.

Great unit. Bought this after the Texas cold snap last year. Powers a 650w Plex server, att fiber modem, udm pro, switch and 3 aps for about 20 minutes.

This is slick for the true sine wave. I'm pretty sure people thinking it was cheaper were looking at simulated sine wave or perhaps a BF deal. Willing to be wrong, and trying to point out constructively that this price has not been available for the 1500 true sine wave for Cyberpower for a long time. I've been waiting and watching. I have one here at home that has lasted over 5 years and still on the original battery (but I'm eyeing it closely and will replace the batts). It has saved me on many occasions with local power surges and outages, while I've lost equipment not connected to it. Fully worth the $ here.
