I've had this for about 2 years now, and it's extremely temperamental. The Google assistant works about 25% of the time. Other times it'll cut you off mid-request or just not do anything after you finish your request. The display is also starting to go on it.

I got mine for free, so it's worked well enough for that.
Thanks OP! I see that a 2 pack is even cheaper (per unit). https://www.bestbuy.com/site/comb...ef705ec924
I don't think it's a matter of doing other stuff for most people, it's just the preference to have a clock that's independent of a phone.

ok, that's never been a problem for me. but in your case the first reason makes sense (although there are apps than can use the entire screen real estate to show time) but the 2nd - can put your phone across the room too??
Doesn't matter when I can' see shit without glasses, unless it's big numbers like an alarm clock, regardless of how close or far it is. That said, if I put my phone across the room, I'd have to get out of bed to do anything with it, so it doesn't make much sense.

This is just as cheap as a Google nest mini when it's discounted. Apparently it has a better speaker too. Telling the time is a bonus to me. Thanks OP - in for 2

Different use case. I bought it for my son as this gives easy option to set alarms, has a night light and with this I can ask him to put the phone away before sleep(or use parental control to block it).

One design flaw I found was the inability to remove or disable alarms by voice.
Just say, hey google cancel alarm

Still using this below my laptop for working at home. I use primarily as a clock and radio player, but still works well.

Have had one of these for a while, and really like it.

I've never found it to be too bright at night, and I sleep with it on the nightstand essentially right next to my head. The adaptive brightness/dimming works well.

The volume is not that impressive as a speaker for music, but it is great for bedside noise to fall asleep to, whether that's a guided sleep meditation, a podcast, or white noise. I also set my bedroom's soundbar (on a chromecast audio, remember those?) as the default speaker for music playback when I want to listen to an audiobook or music at fuller volume while folding laundry or cleaning the bedroom or something.

The interface can be a little clunky to figure out where things are - e.g. finding saved alarms, changing alarm volume but not music volume, etc. Non-standard and very no frills.

The USB charging port in the back doesn't seem to have the oomph to charge my phone overnight. Perhaps for the best, though. Since one of the key reasons I got this was to banish my phone from the bedroom at night.

All in all, if you want an alarm clock that you can yell at to snooze in the morning with a couple of other occasionally useful features. I think it's a great buy at this price, if you understand what it is and what its limitations/best use cases are.

I have one and I gotta say it sucks. Does it work, sure, can I ask Google questions, yes, will it play my meditation music at night? Sure does! But the clock on this thing is toast, everynight I think it's 930 and it's actually 830.. I bought an old digital clock with a tape deck works great and it's 40 years old.

Yes, it auto-resets the time after power/Internet outages without needing a battery backup -- one of the best features. And it gives local weather automatically. I have two and like them, but one of them occasionally has the LED segments flickering.

In for two. I got one in November 2020 for my mom and it's working well.

If there are multiple alarms, which one will it cancels, all of them?

I basically wanted to disable few early alarms when he is on vacation. Everyone in home was up in the morning except him and clock was right next to him.

I checked Lenovo site and they suggested to use clock buttons for that.

Same experience with me. Google assistant recognition is way off compared to the google dots and other Google products.

I grabbed a couple at Wally when they cleared them out for $10.00. I really like them especially because they always show the current outdoor temp. After I pulled the plastic off that was covering the mic, they hear me just as well as my Minis and Echo devices. I never listen to music on these little things.

I've had mine for a year now and have loved it. The sound isn't amazing, but it's great to have a smart clock that doesn't have a distracting screen. It looks great on a desk IMO. Good value for the price.

I quite like my insignia clock/temperature speakers, if those go on sale anymore.
