Buy at Office Depot, they have a great Rewards program- if you follow the rules it can be downright awesome!

THese are pretty lousy drives.

Too bad they aren't having a sale on the HP x796w, which IS an amazing drive.

It looks like the price for this has been alternating between $21.99 and $19.99 on Amazon for the past month.

How are these lousy? I'm trying to buy something with this size. Id like to use this for downloading movies and TV series for my grandmother. If it matters.

Sawcut speed issues, Longevity issues. Cheapo drives with the HP name on them.

That x796w looks awesome, I wish it had USB-C or both A and C. I've got a much smaller memory stick that you can slide left or right to pop out either a USB-A or USB-C connector.

Cheap is good, but still not great deal if the product is junk...

If it's something you'll be using all the time, IMO bite the bullet and buy a SSD and external enclosure. SSDs almost always use better quality components and are faster than flash (thumb) drives (but still limited by USB 3.0 to varying extents). Not all that expensive for a smaller 256GB SSD ($25?) and 2.5" USB 3.0 enclosure ($15?). Or better yet, grab a used SSD for cheap from a computer being upgraded. Even used it'll likely have a lot of life left in it for occasional writes and playbacks.
If form factor really matters, you can watch for a M.2 SSD and enclosure to have a deal on... but still usually will be more expensive than a 2.5" SSD.

EXTREMELY SLOW write speed. Amazon reviewer show 1.4MB/s. They just slap the lable USB3 to make it seem fast.

Have been using a couple of 256GB x900w's in a ZFS striped pool on a linux raspberry Pi4 running 24/7 serving as samba share for all my Fire TVs to access it. Absolutely no issues for last 1 year. Again, no critical data on them, but just disposable movies and TV shows. I get close to 100/110GB read/write speed over a 1GB network which is the max anyways. If they are around $15 or lower, I'd buy more.

But no other options for a thumb drive that works at those speeds. Crazy crazy fast.

If you want speed, get an external NVme enclosure and stick a SSD in it. I'm not partaking in this deal but it's ok if you don't need speed lol.

For the record, I've tested fast flash drives vs NVme enclosures at my workplace and NVme wins hands down in speed, esp when dealing with lots of tiny files with a few random large files.......
