At this price, buy 2. For an easy backup solution, (non critical) I just copy my 24/7 version every few months to the other copy I have unused and sitting in the drawer and then put it back in the drawer. When the 24/7 one "breaks" I will just pull out the copy and start using it, and buy another "drawer copy"

Which reminds me...

I have the 4TB version, shucked it and it's been running 24/7 for about 2 years. Fingers crossed!

Of course, YMMV.

Every hard drive fails sooner or later. Backup your data and you'll be fine.

I have been using it a lot since the last time it was on sale and no complaints. It's a work drive for data recovery jobs so it goes through some hard times.

Personally, I do not like Seagate, but Costco carries it, not WD. Costco only carries products that can support their forever warranty.

This is not designed for 24/7, I would go with a WD Red or Purple or Ultrastar

An Amazon review ---

Customer Reviews
Used for a CCTV NVR and lasted a month
By Jack of All on July 11, 2021
To be fair I am not using this product as typically used or maybe intended so I will keep to 2 starts but... The first thing I did is remove this drive from the enclosure. It is a 2.5" for those curious. I installed the drive in a Ubiquiti Cloud Key Gen 2 since 5TB is the largest it will accept. This drive worked well for the first few weeks and then the clicking started... Its now dead. Going to try a WD next but an expensive 1 month of NVR storage. see less

Yes. I been doing that with my 2TB Seagate External Drive.
For PS4 Games you can store and play directly.
For PS5 Games you only can store games and transfer to Internal Drive if you want to play.

Does anyone know the max transfer speed on those, specially when connected to SATA?

I normally love Seagate, prefer them over WD. Bought 3 of these during the last sale and 2 completely failed (one while doing a large copy to it, right after buying it, the other went totally unreadable/recognizable after about 2 months)

I've never had any Seagate troubles before this drive.

I've been using one since the last sale. It's been fine. There's bound to be bad in both brands. Need more data to definitely say which is better. But it's been fine for me.
