Sure it's a good price for the Succulent Plant Food compared to its usual price, but yikes! It's almost nothing but water. There's so little actual fertilizer in this product. 0.5-1-1? Mix 8 pumps per quart of water? Total sham. It would have been just as easy to market a 4-8-8 product that mixes at 1 pump per quart of water. For comparison, look at Miracle-Gro Liquid All Purpose Plant Food Concentrate [amazon.com] 32 Oz., 12-4-8, for $6.77.

Sure, if the only plants you have inside and out are a few succulents or cacti, have at it. The convenience is there.

Want something really laughable? Check out this Miracle-Gro Pour & Feed Plant Food (Liquid), 32 fl. oz [amazon.com]. It's 0.02-0.02-0.02 and sells around $5.99. For the super lazy, it doesn't even require mixing with (more) water. For the super low cost of $150 per 1 lb of N. Now that's tough to swallow.

Do you have any suggestions on what would be a good all purpose food for indoor plants?

I do not. But I'm sure the one I linked already is a fine option. I tend to use your standard blue Peter's or Miracle Grow for indoor plants, but a small supply lasts for years or decades. My indoor fertilizer use is insignificant compared to my outdoor use.

I've been using Grow More HousePlantFood, like 8-10 drops per .5l. Seems to work well. They only recommend 6 drops per qt.

I have been known to use those spikes for indoor plants when I've gotten them super cheap on clearance, but just be aware of the concerns of using high volumes of concentrated fertilizer in the soil. Use only on larger plants and toward to outside edge of the pot. They are most certainly convenient, but you'll always be better off with a diluted solution while watering.

Gotcha. I'll just get some powdered fertilizer to add to the water like this

If I put this in a pot that has a basin below the soil level that wicks water up to the soil (often called a self-watering pot), can I just pour some fertilizer into the basin, or will I want to apply it directly to the soil?

This actually works really well for our indoor plants. If used properly it does make a big difference.
