I wish my TPLink switches had a hub like my Lutron switches

You can purchase bulbs from other manufacturers without proprietary hubs for much less money. After initial set up, you'll never touch the hub or the app again if you manage the lights with Alexa, Google Home, or HomeKit. The hub is something else you have to keep plugged in somewhere, and the Phillips bulbs won't work without it.
For the money you can buy more S e n g l e d or other bulbs, and never mess with a hub. Also, you'll feel no obligation to buy overpriced bulbs that work with your Phillips hub.

Unlike certain products where the cheapos are reasonably good, especially for the price, I've found Philips to be one of the few things that can command the premium. Granted, I entered the ecosystem with the old HD clearance $30 white ambiance starter kit, so there wasn't much premium to begin with. But the light capabilities and seamless integration with things (I use hubitat) makes it worth it for me.
If all you want is "hey google, turn on the lights," you can definitely do that more cheaply. I have a few wifi smart bulbs (feit and simplyconserve, which might actually be feit, too). The colors suck compared to Hue and you can't do cool light scenes.

Ive owned both in bulk. Hue is worth it.
