As for the deal, this was below $700 about a month ago for same specs, and they also had the 11400H with same specs for $730. I know, no time machine and all, but just something to note. As for the laptop itself, so far it's great for my usage and the games that I play. Looks simplistic and no rainbow RGB flashing everywhere, which is a plus to me. Laptop came with 1 8gb ram stick and the bottom cover can easily be removed with a screwdriver to add another stick in. There's an extra slot for another NVMe SSD 2230 or 2280 BUT you need to buy a mounting bracket on Amazon for $10 to mount it down. Dell was too cheap to include this crucial piece. There's a full takedown video on Youtube if you need to do more things, and it doesn't seem difficult.
Easy to say "you can find better for that price" but can you post the links?? or just came here to crap on the post, seems a good deal to me if you have the amex discount I can't find a better laptop for $630 with 3050 TI, but would love to hear some options(for the same price)
What I've noticed in laptops at even the $800-$900 price point is how dark the screens are. Does anyone else find it straining or, in the very least, unpleasant to look at a screen under 300 nits? The Asus Tuf 17" is a beautifully built machine (great aesthetic) with such a frustratingly dim screen. The MSI Blade is better but not by a lot. It took a $1,100 Omen ($1,500 list) before things were comfortable. And, by that, I don't mean vibrant. Serviceable. Dell's are roughly 250 nits.

Works fine for me in the app.

This is not really that great of a deal w/ the last gen cpu.
Crap screen, crap ram, dated CPU....Now if it had the 11400 for 730 it would be much better
Feel like you can find a better deal for 750 if you are in search of a low end gaming laptop

How about the Acer Nitro 5 below which has i5-11400h, rtx 3050ti and 16gb ram for about 700 (discount in cart)? Seems better than this dell to me. It's just refurb but that's a very minor risk given free returns and included 2-year warranty. Thoughts?

The problem is that Dell has gamified its sales process online. It's roulette in Vegas and a satisfying purchase is impossible because you never know if it's going to be cheaper next week. Or in 24hrs. And their customer supportive reputation is terrible. Am glad you are enjoying your laptop, though.

If you still have the $120 off amex, it's definitely a great deal at 630 and you won't find a better deal for the specs. If you don't have the amex discount then it's a pretty lukewarm deal.

I second this query. I have no feel for Acer product. My bias is that the build and quality of the Nitro line is subpar. Having said that, the build and quality on the MSI Sword and Katana both look and feel cheap, as well. And that surprises me, given MSI's overall reputation in the gaming world. Me? I don't get the hype. Are their (considerably more) expensive models a "thing"? The fit and finish, keyboard, touchpad on the Asus Tuf are exceptional. But, as I said earlier, an eye-straining display. Back it went. Very regrettably. The question I pose to this string is "What is your favorite brand, what has your experience with them been and why?" I've had a hell of a time finding a gaming laptop that I have loved, overall, at a 1K or lower price point. Anyone have a Dell with the 250 nits display to give feedback on?
