We have a collection of different types of balls that we've collected and some of them come out differently then others. So I need to start marking which balls are more consistent with each other. Or maybe pony up and just start buying new packages of balls.
But this machine is great. I didn't see the point of it at first but then found that I was horrible at throwing good pitches to my kids. And my kids aren't quite ready for batting cages yet. So this turned out to be great when I can get the balls to come out consistently.
Of course after I bought it, I started to see used ones pop up in the area. Some as low as $30, which I was able to point some people to. Several years ago it was posted on here on clearance at Walmart for a really low price, which I missed out on, can't remember the price.
Oh and the only other complaint/comment is that it's kind of bulky to lug around and I'm kind of concerned on how easy it would be to find a replacement spring if it's ever needed.
But other then that it's a great machine and highly recommend.
Not sure the current price difference with the Black Flame, which has a slightly higher top speed of pitch. When I looked into it before, I think someone posted that the front arm or something is bent slightly more forward to let the ball come out at a faster velocity or something like that.

Apparently we had machines like this mechanical one last year (we were in tee ball) and it couldn't consistently throw strikes and it drove the coaches crazy.
On the downside, I took it out for the first time yesterday and the spring broke about 20 pitches in. My son has largely outgrown it at this point though. Looks like replacement springs are $30 shipped.
Also as mentioned, check your local classifieds. These pop up rather frequently at around $60 used in my area.
