I've canceled items at the desk in the store but still kept getting notifications for weeks to pick them up. So best thing to do if you can is cancel the item before it comes to the store if you can help it.

update: Tried on a browser (Safari) instead of my phone app and was able to cancel the shipping to home items.
Just use Method 1, please. And cancel it as soon as you can because the cancellation window is short.
