Anyone know a scanner that will read not ready codes? My friend has an older Craftsman 20890 which I guess is rebranded innova but even used they go for a lot. I had used it to read not ready codes as I have EVAP that stays not ready and rarely causes CEL. Being able to read not readies is helpful given can only have one not ready (no CELs) to pass emissions in CT.

Most basic obd ii scanners should give you not ready codes (e.g. I/M readiness)...look for that phrase "I/M readiness"

Lower cost:
a bafx or other bluetooth dongle with the app torque.

If you are looking for an all-in-1 "device"...a few that come to mind

I have a "blue" OBD BT dongle bought on Ali and use with Torque Pro app but never seen it pull not readies.

I have other devices for tuning/monitoring/datalog (cobb AP/versatuner (MS6) VCDS (audi/VW)) but AFAIK none pull not readys, thou the VCDS may...but ya looking for a generic one that would pull on all cars.

I see that the ANCEL AD310 will do it. Prefect.

Wonder if will also tell more info like a wheel sensor CEL I get on Dodge Journey that supposedly A/Z can pull data on which sensor but I cannot. We will see.
Ordered one for $30.
Thanks!

bought this a couple weeks ago on a lightning deal for 212. Definitely from China. I imagine they are pirating this software because it's freakin awesome.

I want something in $350-400 range that can diagnose torque converter and most other things that a good scanner can do in this price range. I can't think of everything i need. Bidirectional, if really good to have? I don't know if it's necessary.

.
I am presuming the 'not ready' are the same as 'Pending' with the Ancel AD310 [amazon.com] .... that is on a Lightning deal today for about $27 with the additional 10% on page coupon. A very basic code reader that does not do ABS, TPMS, SRS, Transmission, etc., today's price is reasonable.... but most will eventually want a more robust reader/scan tool.

As the prices continue to drop, my next one will be a bidirectional with full key programming.

Have a look at the Innova 5610/5160. Retails for around $350 but I got one on ebay for $150. Does a lot more than this one. Scotty Kilmer uses one, if that means anything to you.

Tried to dl product manual. Link dead. Nice support. Currently $643 on innova site. I can't see anything transmission related, or TPMS. I'm not sure if ABS covers bleeding of certain systems/brands. I haven't gotten into it yet but would like to do this summer. RepairSolutions Pro - Free Trial - not sure what it is. Will need to read.

Man this stuff confuses me. Have a BAFX or whatever already on the way. Thinking I want a scanner with a vid screen built in.

Anyways, probably easiest to say what I want it to do. I want to scan codes of course, and look at live data. But I also want to be able to trigger things to test. Whether it's a door lock actuator, a fan controller relay, that kind of thing.

Will this one do that ?

I think BD is overpriced. Wouldn't any OBD2 reader with all standard protocols support do the same but cheaper?
