This costco deal is an OK price but not mind blowing for the first generation version. Samsung naming kinda sucks... hard for the average person to tell which model is which gen. CRG9, G9 and G9 NEO.
Just be sure you want this CRG9 model before you get it.
I just ordered the Samsung Odyssey G7 32" 1440P monitor from the Costco site last week when it was on sale for $599 and got it in the mail 2 days ago. Set it up yesterday and looks great so far. I was going to order the G7 when it was on sale for $500 from the Samsung website back in November/December but I didn't trust the Samsung site for returns, especially when the G7 is known for quality control issues.
Also, on Reddit/other places people have mentioned the 90 day return policy doesn't apply to monitors from Costco. It's not a computer or TV...so technically you can return a monitor at any point. Most store associates will tell you 90 days for a computer monitor but people on Reddit spoke to Costco corporate and people that work at Costco have said the 90 day return policy doesn't apply to a monitor but because there is so much confusion for returns on monitors I'd always stick to returning it under 90 days.

Seriously though, I'm guessing one would only use this if they were gaming and it was their only single monitor? Wouldn't be practice for office work with multiple applications I imagine vs 2 x 27" monitors.

Not a bad price for the CRG9 though.

They call it "Quantum Mini-LED" for the G9 NEO, but the mechanisms by which it creates an image are essentially just a modern LCD screen. By that, I mean that colors are produced by converting a backlight. The "backlight" is produced by the "Mini-LED" in the G9. The "quantum" most likely refers to the use of quantum dots to the convert the backlight into one or more colors. But the key point is that this TV must convert blue (or white) light to other colors to create RGB. This conversion process has drawbacks, since it is not 100% efficient conversion. The components required for conversion also add bulk and complexity (cost) to the display.
True microLED (aka micro-LED, μLED etc) displays are still under development and not commercially available. To see a prototype of a true microLED display you can look up "The Wall" made by Samsung.
However, the mechanism by microLED displays produce an image is actually more similar to OLED. By this I mean that no color conversion is necessary for OLED or microLED displays. Each pixel consists of three R G or B "subpixels" which can be mixed in different ratios to produce any color (whereas pixels in LCD/quantum miniLED or whatever are made by converting a blue backlight to other colors). So a more descriptive name for microLED could be "inorganic LED" or ILED since they are functionally similar to OLED, except they use inorganic materials to produce the light.
From an end-user performance perspective, inorganic "microLED" TVs would be superior to OLED and LCD in every single way. Brighter, more efficient, better contrast, purer colors, longer lifetimes, smaller form factors, anything else you can think of.
"If microLED is so great then why don't they sell them?"
The only reason is that they are currently prohibitively $$$ expensive to manufacture. I think "The Wall" by Samsung is upwards of 6 figures. Obviously figuring out a way to reduce the manufacturing cost is a huge area of research for the industry right now. With current production methods, the cost scales with the size of the display, so it is possible we will never see microLED make it to monitors or TV screens. The first place you will see them is in small displays on wearable techs such as watches, and AR/VR glasses. Many believe the Apple Watch could be the first consumer device to use true microLED technology, but apple is so secretive nobody knows for sure.
Sorry for the information you didn't ask for. Source: my PhD thesis is on microLED tech

That being said, this is a decent deal, nothing to get too excited off of as Samsung has had the improved Odyssey G9 at around $1000 multiple times. I think I paid $960 for mine November of 2020.
